It isnt worth it at all. It ruined my jacket even if I followed the instruction to dye it.. The result is disappointed, which turned it into dark purple.... DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!

I, wanted so bad to believe in this product. I did what was required but it came out to light as you can see. Its a long process and still didnt come out how I wanted. Im a Safety Security Officer and we must wear black pants and this is not it.

About 80% of my clothes are black. My cardigans and jeans were looking worn out and not full on black like they use to be. I followed the directions that rite dye had in their website and I saw a difference! With 1 bottle i dyed 2 cardigans. For jeans I used 1 bottle for 2 jeans although I should have done only one. The second pair did get the color in but not as vibrant as the first pair. Image- far left is the first pair. Middle isn’t dyed. The right is the second pair dyed.

I watched videos and read tutorials online before I attempted to dye my sons 100% linen blanket. I also followed the direction to a T and still ended up with blotchy fabric...YES, I made sure to continually agitate the fabric! Even with THREE bottles of dye and soaking in the dye for 60 minutes, it still had a purple-ish tint and we started with a light, almost white blanket. Going to use the color remover and just accept whatever color it turns out but I assume that it will be better than blotchy black/purple. Should have followed the guides and blogs I read and used a higher quality dye I guess.

I wear a lot of black and the problem with black clothing is that it fades over time. I’ve been using Rit dye for years to extend the life of my black cotton and denim for much longer than the intended shelf life, which is a great thing if you’re like me and are very particular about the items your wear.

I used these to dye some wool fabric on a chair. I wanted it to make a light gray fabric turn to black. It worked ok, but even after using three whole bottles of this stuff, the chair still came out a light charcoal colored rather than black. I did all the stuff to set the color with vinegar, heat, Retayne, etc. This stuff just isnt industrial strength, so it doesnt create a true black, or even close to it.

I originally bought one bottle and it wasn’t enough for my jeans. If you want the blackest color you will need 3 bottles of it. Simmer on the stove for 3 hours and the jeans look brand new.

Seems to dye clothes really dark; when soaked over night

I figured that after white fabric, yellow must be an easy color to cover up with black dye. I followed the instructions on the RIT website to the t and additionally I more than doubled the amount of dye they recommend using. My yellow fabric is now a lovely military olive green. That doesnt really work for a black and white color scheme. The dye will dye your skin better than it will fabric. I shouldnt have wasted my money on dye and just went straight to buying black fabric.
