I bought this disk to remove mill scale and light rust. It does do a good job cleaning both, but it wears out rather quickly. I purposely used light pressure hoping to make it last. I will not buy another one.

Removes paint and mill scale without marring the underlying steel better than anything Ive ever used. Durable. Worth the price for a quality product.

I used this to remove *heavy* mill scale from all the surfaces of a 10” piece of W8x40 I-beam. It took probably 65% of the disc to do it but it did an outstanding job. 3M states it’s only for light mill scale; mill scale doesn’t come much heavier than what I used it on. And no danger of cutting into the good steel or dishing it.

Exactly what I needed to remove mill surface from plate steel when prepping to weld-no other abrasive product that I have tried compares to this-perfect! Typical 3M quality. Longevity of the disc is as yet unknown,but is a minor concern for me-I will purchase more if need be....

The only pads I’ve tried that thoroughly clean metal without marring the surface like flapper disks do. And they don’t seem to clog up as much as other brands. Pricey but worth it.

Money well spent AND reusable

Paint stripper is for the birds and people who like gunk all over your project. Did the bottom of the boat with paint stripper and it took me 3 days. Switched to a grinder and this disk and had the whole exterior done in 1 day. This disk worked insanely well on my jon boat project! Lots of swirls but irrelevant for me as I am going to prime and paint. Definitely order 4 more than you think youre going to need.
