This dimmer is great. All you need is WiFi in your house. No hub is needed like some systems require. The installation was easy, and the eHomeLife app gives you the instructions. Start the dimmer installation via the app before physical installation, because the app tells you all the required steps. You do need some electrical wiring knowledge for installation. If you are not electrical wiring literate, I suggest you find a friend who is. It takes about 10 minutes to install. A single gang white face plate is included, along with good metal core wire nuts. Note that your electric box does need to have the neutral wire for this dimmer to work. The only slight down side is the dimmer only comes in white, but not a big deal as you can see from the picture I included. (The face plate in the picture, I purchased separately.) Interfacing to Alexa (Echo Dot) was easy also (the app gives you the steps), and you can turn on/off the dimmer, and set the light level. Examples: Alexa turn on living room light to 50 percent, Alexa change living room light level to 100 percent. Alexa turn living room light off.

I have ten switches from Meross and three of them are dimmers. These are very easy to install, like any switch, provided you have the neutral wire and 2.4 ghz WiFi network. Amazon echo devices work very with Meross products as does the Alexa app. I use the Meross app more often than Alexa app unless I’m setting up routines. Meross continues to advance in function and design. The neutral wire is the wire that carries the circuit load back to the breaker and will only be available if your intended circuit was wired to the switch first. Older houses are more often wired top down, where the electricity goes to the fixture first. You can have neutral wires installed as I did.

Update: Downgraded to two stars. I would have gone to one star, but they do still work, eventually. These dimmers dont often respond the first time I ask Alexa to turn them on or off, or to dim them. I often have to ask three or four times. Alexa sometimes complains that they are not responding but most often she just accepts the command then acts like it completed successfully when it didnt. The ones I got look different than the current pictures, so maybe Meross updated them and fixed the problem, but I am replacing them with Kasa anyway. I have many other Kasa dimmers and smart switches and they all work great, so these Meross are going in the trash. :-( ----- I have these integrated with Alexa. I like to have a night light in the main part of the house during the middle of the night. I programmed a routine in Alexa called Good Night that turns the LED lights in the living room down to 5%, turns off the lights in my bedroom, tells me the overnight weather, and starts my sleep sound. Update: I got a new router and it refused to allow me to use certain characters in the password that the old router didnt have a problem with. That meant that I had to change my wifi password and reprogram EVERYTHING in the house. These switches were a real PITA to change the wifi pasword on. I eventually did it, but Im not exactly sure what steps I took to get it done. When youre programming them for the first time, its pretty straightforward. If you have to change the programming for any reason, it is quite a chore. Docking a star for that.

This is a good Homekit compatible switch, simple to use and reliable. I have one of their standard switches too and Im really happy that I found Meross. They work well and are inexpensive which is important when youre trying to outfit an entire house. My only criticism, because this switch has built-in wiring you are forced to use wire nuts on all the connections. This makes for a VERY cramped box when youre installing. The wire nuts in the box are huge. Im not sure why they didnt just use standard push-in or screw connectors.

Replaced and under cabinet kitchen lights switch. Works great and Im was/am really impressed with the easy of installation, both physical and app. Physical installation was simple enough at the switch has your standard two connections (line & load), so that part was easy as it doesnt matter which wire connects to which lead on the switch, which are labeled well on the switch. As I was installing this in a two gang box I had a power plug, next door, which gave me access to a neutral wire, which is required for the smart part of the switch to work. Please make sure you have a neutral wire in the box you are installing the switch in, otherwise it wont work, unless of course you run a new neutral (either from the panel or from a closer location. If you do that please follow your local municipalities electrical practices or high an electrician). The app worked well better than I thought it would, which is a very nice plus. It quickly found the device and within minutes I was able to turn on/off & dim the lights. I opened Google Home (my preference) and added Meross to my home and the switch was there. Ive been testing both the Hey Google and the app incessantly and neither has failed yet, which is very impressive. Overall great product, great integration to my smart home and simple enough installation. Im very pleased.

I have installed several Meross switch products with HomeKit compatibility, and am overall happier with these switches than others that I have tried (mainly from Lutron and Leviton). Given the overall favorable reviews, I thought I would identify several issues that buyers should be aware of before moving forward. I like the Meross products, so I hope they expand and improve their product line. First, Meross provides the wrong size/thread screws for mounting their switches to US junction boxes. They should be 6-32 machine screws but they are not. OK, no big deal, so I used the screws that are already on my switches. Well, those have round (instead of flat) heads. They bulge out just enough that it is essentially impossible to get the snap-on switch plate attached. There are reviews on this or other Meross switches that complain of the same problem with the covers, but they dont identify that this is the problem. Second, the leads are permanently attached to the switch box. I would much prefer screw or push-in terminals. Every Meross switch has at least four leads, which increases the number of ends in a junction box. I am certainly not an expert on the National Electric Code, but I do know that there are limits of how many wires can be in a junction box with a given volume. Two-gang switch boxes become very, very crowded when replacing both switches with smart switches, especially when there are other wires traveling through the same box. Third, the switch housings are very bulky. This is true of other smart switches as well. I ran into a problem where a two-gang junction box has conduit coming in from the side. The switch is so wide that it hits the side conduit fitting and could not be inserted. My solution was to file down a small part of the plastic housing on the switch so that it could fit. (I did not file all the way through, which is how thick the plastic housing is. Of course this means that it is a durable housing.) Fourth, where we live, conduit and grounded junction boxes are required. The Meross switches should be grounded at the plastic tabs so that we dont have to bother with the ground wire. Unfortunately, they are not. Finally, if you want to adjust the minimum dimming level of a dimmer switch, or check for firmware updates, you MUST sign up for a Meross account, which I dont like. The Leviton switches that we have do not require this. Minimum dimming levels and firmware updates can be done through the Decora Smart Home app without needing to set up an account.

We installed one in the master bedroom and the future nursery. My wife leaves early for work and before I would wake up every morning after she turned on the lights to get ready. Now she would keep the lights dimmed so it is not a big shock for me in the morning. We haven’t used the nursery dimmer yet, but we can see it being useful in the near future. They were easy to install and it is easy to control using the app on our phone.

The switch will only set up through the Home app and will not connect with the Meross app. Which makes it unusable with alexa

Overall I like the switch. It functions as I expected which is to control the lights with my amazon echo and my smart phone The install wasn’t hard except I needed to rewire in a neutral wire. I was lucky to have easy access to do it. The instructions that come in the box provided no useful installation details . The installation instructions were on the Meross app when adding the device. That is great but that was after I had figured out how to install it and using my general knowledge of wiring. The faceplate doesn’t fit tightly because it snaps on versus a plate that screws on. Adding the device on the app was easy. It only takes a few minutes to find it and getting it to work with the app and Alexa. Also you can set the minimum brightness on the dimmer from the app. But I wish you could do the maximum too. While directly using the buttons on the switch it is quick to response to the lights turning on and dimming the lights. When turning the lights off there is a slight delay by a few seconds. I don’t have this issue with my other Meross products. The app and my echo respond quickly and are simple to use. However there is still a delay when turning it off. I can control the dimmer with the app and my voice. However I need to figure out a way to dim it faster than saying “Alexa turn down the lights” multiple times. Overall I like the product and would recommend it. ***Make sure you have the neutral line. Also. I wish it came in brown or black ascents. Adding another comment: the switch has no memory of the last setting. If the switch was set to the lowest setting and turned off the next time it will turn on at the brightest setting.
