> 3 dayMade from alumimum and provides smooth operation. Makes determining angles when doing trim work or crown molding much easier and saves time. With proper care this tool should last a long time.

> 3 dayI agree with the other reviewers. I purchased this tool because of the Starett name and was deeply disappointed. The scale was definitely off. When you completely fold up the tool it is blatantly obvious. I e-mailed Starett and they said to return it to them for a replacement. I was not too confident that the new one would be any better. Starrett also stated they were changing the name of the tool to remove the word protractor because they had received so many complaints. In my case, I simply printed a red arrow on some sticky label paper and then cut it out and overlayed the decal on the tool. Its not pretty but the scale now reads accurately. I would not recommend buying this until this defect is corrected.

> 3 dayI read several old reviews here of the 505A-12 - and its smaller 7 sibling - and became nervous about the suggested lack of accuracy due to poor decal placement. So I contacted Starrett to verify if - as their web site claimed - the scales are now laser engraved and dont still employ simple decals. They assured me that the laser engraving was an enhancement implemented a few years back, and expressed frustration that Amazon reviews never expire due to age and this has lead to much confusion about their products.
