> 3 dayYou definately have to have someone who is capable of programming the scanner or else you will spend a lot of money getting the agencies that you want to listen to. The scanner is coompact, and definately a quality product. I would recommend an external speaker for better sound quality and to purchase extra recharagble batteries and a charger. I go through two batteries about every 6 hours. You cannot recharge the batteries in the scanner and listen to it at the same time.

Greater than one weekUnable to receive local public service activity. Completely useless. Programming with RR/premium yields a relatively ugly paperweight that simply never makes any noise ... Oh well...

Greater than one weekAfter a 32 year career in LE and retired for 6, my oldest son is on the job now as well with my agency. So, I finally jumped on this. It takes a bit of patience to program it as my agency is large with hundreds of trunked channels. However, through the benefit of friends who have this model, it worked out. The instruction manual is hard to read, with especially small print as well. I added a beefier antenna and when at home, use desktop speakers to enhance the sound quality. For the money it is an excellent purchase and does what it should.

Greater than one weekAll I can say is Im impressed! This little scanner really pulls in the distant signals. I have been a scanner enthusiast over 40 years and have owned several BearCat scanners along with Radio Shack radios. I also own a SDS200 and the BCD325P2 gives it a run for the money when it comes to reception. The SDS has many more features but the BCD325P2 being a 335 buck radio is well worth the investment. I highly recommend a radiorefference.co subscription and also purchasing a license for the ProScan software. After doing so, I had the scanner receiving all of the local area channels in no time. Note that depending where you live, you may need to upgrade to the DMR, ProVoice or NXDN license to listen in your area. I often listen to my 325P on the carport under an aluminum canopy with the included rubber duck antenna and pickup channels 30 mile away as the bird flies. I highly recommend the BCD325P2 scanner.

Greater than one weekLots of fun to listen to the surrounding Dispatches! I probably shouldve listened to the reviews, and not purchased this as a first time scanner. It came unprogrammed, so I couldnt listen to anything until I searched the manual on doing a basic scan of the entire frequency spectrum. So I tried the freescan software. And that was even difficult to understand. Then I found the ARC XT Pro software. Downside, freescan is free but time consuming to use and ARC is either $40 or $70 (depending on what you want), but its FASTER!! So within 15 minutes of loading up the ARC software and playing around a little (in the trial version), I was able to program my scanner, and listen to the city police, fire and ambulatory dispatches, as well as a few surrounding areas! The only other thing thats not very cool, is the battery life (again noted in the reviews). About 2 or 3 hours of continuous use and it starts beeping at you to replace the batteries. At least its only 2 double As. But you can always just leave it plugged into a power source with the USB Plug. Overall, I am very pleased with this scanner. It is very fun!

> 3 daykind of a pain to program had mine about 5yrs better recieve then whistler ws-1040 which i also have the two systems i monitor are p25 & star comm in which bearcat receives both well but whistler seems to struggle no matter the settings - threshold- as long as scanners been made you would think BEARCAT would make their units with keypad back light not just the display my personal opinion if you only going to monitor conventional frequencies or starcom the whistler would be fine & slightly cheaper but also little bigger more user friendly to program & the whole radio has bright backlight display & you can also turn off both independently hope this helps in decision making.....happy programming

> 3 dayI purchased this scanner. Im very unhappy with it. Battery life is lousy 3-4 hrs tops out of rechargables and alkalines. And programming either by software or manually, youll still get talkgroups from other locations you didnt program into the radio. Will be returning to buy a 436HP.
