Uniden used to be a good name in radios. Based on this and the previous scanner I got, there is no quality in the products. Had another scanner sitting next to this and it would not pick up transmissions the other scanner would get loud and clear. What was worse is when I went to return it, they did not offer the UPS pickup service like all my other returns have. Would not recommend purchase of *ANY* Uniden products.

after reading previous reviews I was a little afraid to even start programing my scanner however after signing up at radio reference and downloading the freescan softqare I was up and running in about 15 minutes.... Im learning something new everyday about my scanner... one thing I wish is that the battery life was longer but it shouldnt be too much of an issue since I will primarily using my scanner at home while Im crafting and such.... also wish the batteries would charge while it is plugged in.... with all said Im very happy with my purchase of the bcd325p2.

I love this little scanner that fits easily in your pocket. Id give it 5 stars except for the issues noted in other reviews here - it eats batteries, doesnt charge while being used on USB power and is really complicated to program. I took one look at trying to program it, gave up, and contacted a local scanner junkie. He was happy to hook it up to his laptop and downloaded all of the frequencies I need across 3 counties in less than 5 minutes. From there, its just a matter of turning it on and listening. If you want to get more complicated with your listening you can use its various features but you dont have to. As for the batteries, get a charger and 2 sets of batteries. If you are using it for extended hours, use the USB - for listening, not for charging.

This scanner is impossible to program without a lot of training. I expected with modern tech that I would just sync it to my computer and it would sync the necessary frequencies for my local trunked system. Not so. It says its programable via PC, but the software is not from Uniden and obsolete. I was trying to replace a nearly 30 year old Radio Shack trunk tracking scanner that was simple to program. I will be returning this. Update: Purchased the SDS 100. While it is twice the cost, it is well worth it.

Works perfectly. Controls are what they are, and they are ok, but not great. Unless you have a lot of spare time and patience, you are going to need to also buy software to program this, and likely a subscription to a scanner frequency database.

Its a P25 Phase 1 and 2 scanner and appears to work as advertised. Proscan software works for programming purposes with this radio and the mobile version, the BCD996P2. It takes only two batteries instead of the three that the BCD396XT required and will require recharging before you think. Keep an extra set of batteries available. Also, no backlit keypad but the display is backlit. Its very different than what it replaces, the BCD396XT. Uniden does include a mini-USB cable for programming and power purposes. The required cable driver is available on the internet. If you need a Phase 2 P25 handheld scanner this one is a winner.

It is a nice scanner, easy to program if using 3rd party software. Range in my area not as good as i thought it should, even with purchasing another antenna. Range drops when it is running of batteries.

This is a really awesome tool, very powerful. I do wish there was an option to power it from a USB cable for when Im in the car, as it goes through batteries at a good clip, but thats the trade-off for having so much power in such a portable form-factor I think.

The BCD325P2 comes equipped with Uniden exclusive features like Advanced Dynamic Memory System, Close Call RF Capture Technology, and GPS compatibility. It also includes support for the latest APCO Project 25 Phase II systems.
