after reading previous reviews I was a little afraid to even start programing my scanner however after signing up at radio reference and downloading the freescan softqare I was up and running in about 15 minutes.... Im learning something new everyday about my scanner... one thing I wish is that the battery life was longer but it shouldnt be too much of an issue since I will primarily using my scanner at home while Im crafting and such.... also wish the batteries would charge while it is plugged in.... with all said Im very happy with my purchase of the bcd325p2.

GREAT scanner, once programmed. (Id recommend FreeScan ($0) and d/l freqs from Radio Reference.) My only complaint is the sound quality of this unit, however, it does have a very small speaker, so great sound quality cant be expected. Id highly recommend this unit. (I also have the Uniden BCD996P2)

The learning curve was a little steep for programming. You have no choice but to join and use Radio Reference if you want to program trunks. After a couple days of reading and several attempts, I finally got most of the Police, Fire and Rescue, the State Police and the Public Utilities. I added the GPS and it automatically locks out stuff thats out of range. I only use that in the car because it needs to be plugged into a USB power source or it kills the battery.

First of all I paid for a New unit and received a used like new Amazon substitute, it will cost you hundreds if not thousands of dollars to get it programmed to work. Then all you have to do is get a PhD in radio communications engineering to figure out how to use the scanner! Amazon would not let me return it-very disappointed.

Feature wise, this scanner does what it says on the tin and has a good feature set. Audio is heard clearly. You better have plenty of batteries. I put in fresh Duracell AA batts and they were dead only after 6 hours!!! If not for the fact this scanner eats batteries so quickly, I would have rated it 5 stars. I knock off two stars because of this.

Good scanner if you know how to program p25 channels and frequencies, how ever the upgrade to hear DMR, and 2 Other systems will cost you if you can’t download the latest firmware. It can only be downloaded via windows system, will not work with chrome or other systems. But with more and more counties going p25 trunking… this scanner is one that will be useful and helpful. Wish the batteries lasted longer on charge…but all in all… it’s portable and works when the power goes out!! Would buy 2 more!! But would find a source of computer friendly for upgradable systems and firmware upgrades.

Overall a great handheld. Durable and lasts. Drains batteries; invest in rechargeables. Only uses 2 AA verses the older models that were heavier with 4. I purchased software to easily upload and manage frequencies. Reception is moderate even with a higher gain antenna. Sound quality is ok.

The BCD325P2 comes equipped with Uniden exclusive features like Advanced Dynamic Memory System, Close Call RF Capture Technology, and GPS compatibility. It also includes support for the latest APCO Project 25 Phase II systems.
