Was easy to install and worked like a charm. My only gripe was that it was too expensive especially for the one that came with a heat sink. That was a ridiculous $400 mark up that I resolved using a $15 heat sink that worked just as well. Otherwise, I think it was a good investment. Need a 4 tb option with the same quality as this one and not so prohibitively expensive that it would break the bank...lol

Bought this for the PS5. Transfer and load speeds are incredible.

I selected the WD_BLACK SN850X 1TB as my primary drive with my new build. Western Digital advertises read speeds of up to 7,300MB/s. Ive tested and attached screenshot of CrystalDiskMark results after filling the drive to 29% capacity, Im extremely pleased to see read speeds of 7,235MB/s, and write speeds of 6260MB/s. The WD Dashboard software presents your drive(s) health, temps, and more in easy to understand way. Get one of these and you wont be disappointed.

As soon as I saw the limitation of the PS5 storage I immediately started researching how to fix that. A couple youtube videos later and I came across this bad boy. Im sure there are bigger and better SSDs out there but Im a humble person and Im content with the 2TB SN850. I left space on the console to record gameplay but everything else goes to M.2. It downloads games on the ps5 super quick

Like any other m.2 storage device this came with no m.2 screw and was not initialized/formatted for immediate use on a PC/laptop. So any potential buyer will need to provide their own, and Windows users planning to use this device as a secondary storage device will need to initiate the drive in the Disk Management program much like any other new in box storage device. If installing Windows on this device or using it with a console it ought to work just fine and will walk the user through setup.

This drive does have a heatsink that is permanently attached so you need to be very mindful of vertical clearance in your system. Other than that its easy to install and use. The heatsink does not come off so you may want to buy the no-heatsink variant if you dont need it.

I bought this for me ps5 after spending almost a week looking at all the options and debating weather this one or their slightly more expensive ps5 official one would be better I ended up going with this one and I do not regret it. There is no reason to get the ps5 official one unless it is on sale for cheaper than this one. This one works perfectly and you get faster speeds with this one as opposed to the ps5 official one. Once I got it in it took be less then 10 minutes to install and I was good to go. I definitely think that this one loads faster than the one that comes in the ps5 as well. The included heatsink was also a huge bonus. So whether this is for your ps5 or whatever other console or device this is for I highly recommend this one when it comes to ssd western digital is the king. I definitely recommend waiting if it is not on sale though from what I can tell they are on sale a lot so if it is not on sale wait I bought mine for $179.99. So they go on sale and they seem to stay on sale for quite a while.
