ASUS DRW-24F1ST - DVD SATA SUPERMULTI Burner - SERIAL ATA - BLACK - OEM Bulk Drive

Ive used 5 of these so far in new PC builds for work in the past 2 years. They are simple, reliable and consistent optical drives - no problems at all.

Drive worked perfectly, no software to install. This drive was 1/5 the cost of the Hewlett Packard drive !. I have both, the original that came with the computer and this one. There is absolutely no different in performance. Make sure you order the CORRECT drive model for your specific HP computer

This product is great when I use it which is about maybe a month here and there. But the quality is kind of cheap. But for the price cant complain to much.

Its a DVD burner. It reads, it writes. I Dont expect much more then that.

This drive goes about its business quietly and without any grief. Its the 3rd or 4th Asus CD/DVD drive Ive had and all have been quiet and worked well. Also, unlike a few others Ive had, all of them are still working. One is one of the first SATA CD drives on the market. Ive had a couple of Plextor drives and while theyve been great, one did eventually fail and they are expensive.

When I originally built my system in August of 2013 I debated on putting a second drive in my system, I had a Pioneer bluray burner but knew that the majority of my projects would be burning CD and DVDs. I bought one of these and without trying to exaggerate probably burned close to 1,000 discs in the last year and a half (I work on computers for a living and do VHS to DVD transfers. Finally this thing gave out, it lasted through TONS of burns and is a fast drive. For the price, this thing was great and if this thing lasts another year and a half with how often I am punishing it I will gladly purchase another one when this one dies on me.

I was little surprised that I have no issues with this drive, seeing the way it was packaged for shipping. (see picture) A bare DVD drive shipped in a non-padded, thin paper envelope. I know its an OEM drive and theres no retail packaging. But at least they could of put it in a small box with several small air pillows thrown in. A little more training in the packaging department.
