I’m apparently really oblivious because when I bought this I didn’t realize it came with a nifty little tool to spritz the diatomaceous earth around with, but it works really well and the addition of it is much appreciated! I’m using this as a sort of barrier to keep potential (ear) mites from going into my bunny area while I treat them with Revolution so it’s gonna be hard to say if this specifically does anything to help but, I don’t doubt the efficacy.

A doctor on YouTube spoke about the benefits of diatomaceous earth as far as getting rid of parasites and dealing with yeast/candida overgrowth. I began taking it with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in water every morning. After several days all of a sudden my body began a purge plus the insane itching I had from the candida stopped. I think my body was purging the garbage out of it. I stopped taking the earth for a few days but went back on it as I know there is some residual yeast or fungal growth lingering. But it is tasteless and harmless. Just do NOT inhale it. BE WARNED: If you experience really bad cramping stop taking it. I had this happen to me twice and i had diarrhea for three days the first time. The second time I tried it after being off of it for a few days, the cramps were really bad and I stopped taking it. Just be careful and monitor your bodys reaction. It can help you as it has me.

My house was infested with fleas and my pets do not go out side at all. I used this all through my house and it took about 48 hours and they were gone. applied it again about 5 days later as some baby fleas were showing up and I left it down for 3 days. That was a few weeks now and there are no fleas.. Awesome stuff.

Much better deal than buying the puffer separately

Silicates dust so put a mask on and safety glasses to protect your lungs and eyes. Better to have gloves as it dessicated skin. It is food grade as some people ingest it, but ask your doctor first and if you can take it, always drink a lot of water: it dehydrates badly. Anyway, put just a bit and spread it to obtain a thin layer. I use it only at the entrance of the garage where we have too many coach roaches.

We had a terrible ant problem in the house. I didnt want any pesticide chemicals. So I put this down right before we went on a month long trip. Came back and saw lots of ant tracks thru the powder. Vacuumed it all back up with a shop vac when we returned and have not had a problem since. So thrilled!! Thank you!!

To be honest I am not all together sure what its actual use is, I just know I read it could get rid of fleas. It does do that temporarily. Should you be using it for that DO NOT use the spryer that comes with it. I did and it got everywhere, I literally had to clean it off of everything in my room. The better albeit harder way to do it is to find something to put it in and sprinkle it. When my sister used it she used a mason jar and poked holes on the lid. If you have a tiny flea problem this will solve it for a month or so, if you have a big flea problem you’re looking at it lasting a week at best. Again, I don’t know what it’s actually used for, so this review is based on what I used it for.

I live in an old apartment that has a roach problem which has caused so much stress and anxiety in my life. I struggled trying to control the problem any way that I could (different baits, the roach birth control, diy roach killer) but everything I did seemed to make the problem worse! My anxiety was so bad that I had to leave all my lights on to deter them from popping out :(. After all my failed methods, I finally bought this product and sprayed it all over my floor. It stopped them from coming out for a few days, which was a relief (even though I knew they were still there it was nice to be able to walk around without being scared). Eventually they started coming out again, probably to find some water, and had to cross through the powder which eventually killed them. I literally thought the roach problem couldn’t be controlled and I would have to live in fear in my apartment but luckily the problem has significantly improved! I have no doubt that this product will completely eliminate whatever bugs are left and I’ll finally be able to be comfortable in my apartment. I’d highly recommend this for bug control.

I just bought this to use for dust baths and a feed additive to deal with worms. Great product.

Every once in a while, the duster would emit a clot of powder before sending out a fog of powder. And yes, I do mean fog. A couple of puffs from the duster left a cloud over my carpet that took 15 minutes to settle. You couldnt even see it on the carpeting, but it really cut down the bugs. After a day the dog went from scratching constantly to only doing it once or twice a day. I bet if I turned the duster right side up and tapped the cover a few times to clear the nozzle I could stop the clot I mentioned. You actually turn the duster upside down to spray the powder.

Harris Diatomaceous Earth is listed with the Organic Minerals Research Institute (OMRI) for organic use. It"s mined in Nevada and packaged in Georgia in a 4lb airtight bag. Included in the bag is a powder duster, allowing for easy application of a fine dusting of powder.

For every ten dollars in profit we receive for Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade, we have pledged to donate $1 to the Etowah Valley Humane Society (EVHS), a private non-profit organization that saves thousands of animals every year. Based in Cartersville, GA a short drive from the PF Harris manufacturing plant, EVHS aims to prevent cruelty, relieve suffering, and provide humane treatment for all animals in need. The organization actively works to eliminate root causes of suffering and acts as an educational resource for the community, with the main goal being to find a great home for animals in its custody. Below are a few of the impressive stats showing the impact EVHS has had on local animal lives in recent years:

  • Rescued over 13,000 lives from Bartow County Animal Control since 2010
  • Helped increase the number of live animals pulls from Bartow County Animal Control from 69/month to 207/month - a 300% increase
  • Assisted in decreasing the Bartow County euthanasia rate six years in a row

Harris’ own Chief Financial Officer, Ed Brush, has been involved with the society for years. Seeing an opportunity to help a local organization doing so much good, PF Harris partnered with EVHS in an effort to combat animal cruelty and find deserving pets a loving home. We hope you will find value in our Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth while knowing that 10% of profits are going toward saving the lives of pets in Bartow County, Georgia.

About PF Harris

Our Story

Problem solving has a long heritage at PF Harris. In 1924, two years after its founding, the company tackled the Calvin Coolidge White House, which had been overrun for years by roaches and water bugs. Harris’s product was so successful in eliminating the scourge that he was described on the front page of the Washington Times as a "vermin slayer" who has just fought a decisive, winning battle with a horde of cockroaches which infested the lower regions of the Executive Mansion.

Over the course of the next few months Harris took “his final feast” to dozens of government buildings, including the Senate Office Building, the Department of Justice, the Supreme Court and Walter Reed Hospital. Success followed success: Each superintendent of the various buildings was highly satisfied with the results.

The company today stays nimble enough to respond to changing market demands, leading the way in the development of numerous products, including natural insect repellents like Swamp Gator and Swamp Gnat which repel biting insects without using deet. Beyond the products it sells, Harris helps customers find easy and economical solutions to pest problems through helpful labeling, instructive videos and personal advice.

It’s a brand with a reliable past and an innovative future. PF Harris is America’s oldest EPA-registered company. With more than 55 products, the company provides solutions to treat everything from roaches and bed bugs to scorpions and stink bugs.
