    Greater than one week

Im in a small three room cottage and the central heat and A/C does not evenly distribute the temperature. I set this in a corner on Sleep and Circulate and problem solved! I had forgot it was there until I got this request for a review.

I was disappointed when I opened this fan - The base is very cheap and flimsy. It didnt stay together to put the fan on. But once I did get the fan on it seems to hold it. The fan itself is ok. The speeds all work and dont make a lot of noisy even on high. On any speed you can still hear people talking or the TV and you do not have to raise your voice or turn the TV up. It blows out a lot of air as you set it higher and the highest speed can be felt 3 away maybe a little more. It does oscillate and has a dimming feature. The cord to plug it in is 5. The remote that is included is very cheap and small. It does require 2 AAA batteries not included. It worked fine that morning, but when we went to use it that night it did not work. Contacted customer service and they were very nice, prompt and helpful. But they did let me know that the remote was not a warranty item, but they would send me one as a curtesy. Also that if I would have got someone else they might not have sent me a new one. The new remote arrived very fast and works. Over all its an ok fan but when it breaks I would not purchase this one again.

I purchased this fan as a replacement for the immediate previous version of the QuietSet tower fan, for my baby’s room (when purchased, he was just over a year). All-in-all, this is a good fan though not one to totally rave about. Some things to consider: I’ve owned a few QuietSet fans from Honeywell. They tend to last me, so I keep going back. Although I enjoy the white noise from a good fan, QuietSet fans are very quiet. In low modes, you can’t tell they are on by the sound. It also means, however, that these are not extremely powerful fans. Perfect for a home already air conditioned, looking for additional circulation or something to keep you cooler at night without jacking up the power bill — or, as I am currently using it, for your baby’s room. The original version had 5 modes instead of 8. Although I think the 5 modes pretty much covered the fan speeds you’d need, adding 3 more doesn’t hurt you any. What I absolutely didn’t like about this tower fan, was that the light from the fan used to automatically turn off after a handful of seconds. This version has a light like a beckon! It seriously lights up an entire room. There is a button on the fan to dim the light or turn it off completely. But (1) that makes the remote control useless because you eventually will get up to walk over to the fan to turn off the annoying light, and (2) it has 4 dimmer modes.... which makes no sense to me. On or off. Maybe, I’ll give you, the option for one dimmer selection, but four? It’s silly and unnecessary, causing you extra, precious sleeping seconds when you’ve dragged yourself out of bed to turn it off. The remote has Power, Speed and Oscillation on it. Everything you need... unless the fan has a light 3x stronger than the sun on it. Even if you’ve turned the fan light off previously, the next time you change the speed of the fan, the light goes right back on. This is especially annoying when I’m trying to be sneaky, adjusting the fan in my child’s room. The timer settings for the fan are 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 and 8. This is also handy while being completely annoying. 1 hour? Who ever just needs a fan on for one hour — that couldn’t just use it for 2 hours? My family and I live in California, where the days in summer can be 20-30 degrees warmer than the evenings. Dressing my little one for the temperature in our house when he goes to bed, and the temperature it’s going to be 5-6 hours later is an epic math equation, full-on nightly parental discussion and something of a game of luck. I dress him warm enough to deal with the cool down, and use the fan to cool him while it’s still hot. However, 4 hours doesn’t yet bring us into enough of the cooler night temperatures to want the fan off, and 8 hours is too far in that he wakes up because he is cold. A 6-hour timer would have been perfect, but apparently there is someone out there that benefits from having a one-hour slot. Who? Beats me. The construction of the fan is nice and not too top heavy (my biggest concern for tower fans). The bottom pedestal (that clicks in, post-delivery) worked just fine on our previous version but has never clicked all the way in on this version. I dislike it because I’m scared that one day, the pedestal will break if the part that doesn’t click in like it’s supposed to, catches on something. For a fan that I have for my baby, it’s a decent way to go. Not to loud, good fan settings, gentle breezes, timer and dimmable lights. This fan just lacks the necessary components to get it into the end zone for me. Maybe next version.

Ordered one. It arrived with a rattle on the lower settings. Returned it and got a replacement. 2nd one rattled slightly less so I kept it. Clearly the fan is not built well enough or packaged well enough to be shipped. Probably a fine in person buy but it’s definitely not going to work 100% if you get it through the mail.

To begin with, no fan is a substitute of an AC system, those that use one need to understand thermodynamics, AC units remove the heat from the room and have super-cooling methods that wouldnt be used in a fan. To get air OUT of a room, you need an exit, an open door, window, etc. I use mine in support of our AC unit, which is all the way in the living room (and struggles to reach my room). Fans are mainly intended to keep the air circulating, but by doing so also slightly (but noticeably in enclosed environments, far more than in open) increase the temperature as a byproduct. However, fans do make it more bearable, and make a significant difference when centered onto the person in question. Its a rather quiet, and tall fan, as opposed to the arguably much stronger, less efficient, and louder box fan that I used to have. This fan does rotate, has multiple settings including ones (that at the lower levels) are little more than white noise, meaning it can be used to give a slight cooling sensation, without being overwhelming, while also staying just loud enough to drown out the disturbances of the night, an owl hooting at an odd hour, birds flying around, etc. Is it perfect, no, in my case my bed happens to be too tall (which I had just set up a day prior to receiving the fan) to make the full use of the fan at night, however the white noise helps with sleeping, and it still does keep a good deal of the heat off at night. I would recommend it to someone who understood what they were looking for in a fan, and what they would be getting. If you are looking for a fan, not an AC unit, this is something that I would recommend.

Overall, I love this fan. It is very quite on low settings, and does increase slightly as you turn it up ( 8 fan settings ) But, Its not bad. I purchased a regular pedistal fan before I found this one that sounds like a jet engine taking off! So the Honeywell one is not noisy at all. I love white noise at night anyway! The Cons and reason for 4 stars vs 5: I dont like the generic remote control. The remote should have all the same features as the fan itself! This one is on/off, reciprocate and fan speed only. If you use it in the bedroom and dont like bright blue lights, the remote is no good. You have to manually turn the blue light off at the fan. And, anytime you make an adjustment to the speed or anything else, the blue light comes back on. Also, once you turn the fan off, it doesnt remember your settings other than the fan speed (the blue light comes on, if you like it to reciprocate, you have to set that up again) . The work around... I set the fan up the way I like it prior to getting into bed at night and hope that I dont need to adjust it during the night.

Weve been impressed with this fan since purchase nearly three months back. We do have to prop it atop a foot high box for it to be able to blow on us while we sleep (it is tall, but not that tall). Its also virtually soundless unless you use the highest speeds, so perfect for those who wish to keep this in their bedroom like we do. I would purchase this model again without hesitation. That being said, a couple days ago our fan developed a clicking tick during rotation. We could not determine the source, only that the sound stemmed from the motor when rotating the fan about - when it wasnt rotating the noise was absent. Fortunately, we are four days shy of our 90-day-guarentee purchase warranty and so I spoke to amazon tech support. The gentleman who helped me was phenomenal, he went completely above and beyond, even connected me to the Honeywell company. They, too, were also outstanding with their assistance and are sending a replacement fan immediately. So, as I said above, I wouldnt hesitate to buy this model again, or to buy a Honeywell product over all.

Description is not accurate. I wanted black and the only option was to get the tower fan + the mini fan but mini fan did not arrive despite paying extra for it. The tower fan works well. VERY quiet, easy to use, very lightweight. Its a bit annoying that every time you shut it off, you have to reselect the fan speed and oscillation but I can live with that.
