iolo - System Mechanic Pro, Computer Cleaner for Windows, Blocks Viruses and Spyware, Restores System Speed, Software License

Ive been a long time user of Iolo products. System Mechanic Pro is a decent tool. However, their latest software offering has been, at least for me, an extreme disappointment in that I cannot get ANY support for software bought and paid for but which refuses to accept the licensing supplied at time of purchase. Understanding that problems do occur at times, I cannot understand their lack of response to repeated requests for help. It is particularly baffling in view of the fact THEY assigned a case number to my initial request for help. Difficult to recommend a company that refuses to stand behind their products.

My pc was having some problems and I hoped System Mechanic Pro would prove helpful. However, after installing it my problems increased. Returned it for store credit, which Amazon added to my account the same day I mailed the software back to them. I had used System Mechanic four or five years ago without any problems, but have different laptop now and diffrerent OS.

this product is awesome, whenever i have a problem it fixes it without having to bring it into a person. it cant get rid of viruses though.

I do not normally bother writing reviews about products. If they dont work or customer service is poor I just cancel and never buy them again. IOLO has pissed me off enough to actually spend the time to give them a negative review. I strongly recommend avoidance of any and all IOLO products and services. IOLO is extremely aggressive in their marketing and up selling efforts. When I attempted to renew my one year subscription I had a very difficult time getting the deal they were promising me. Every time I contacted customer service I was on hold for an extended period of time and had to argue with the customer service rep to stop trying to upsell me. A month after I renewed I received an email indicating I had signed up for their tech support service which I did not want. There was no online option to cancel so I had to go through customer service and again argue with them to cancel the order they generated and stop the upsell script. Regardless of the marginally effectiveness of their product I will not be renewing with IOLO ever again.

system mechanic 12 is nearly identical to professional but with a few more extras like antivirus and of course the unlimited pc install rights make this a good home systems software.

I have no idea what the people are doing that have left negative reviews. I have been using System Mechanic for at least 4 years now with no problems. It has in fact SAVED my when my computer unexpectedly crashed. I have also used it multiple operating systems (Windows 7,8 and Vista) with no problem. I always let it automatically fix the problems, and have never had a problem. I am moderately tech savvy, but by no means an expert and am able to easily maneuver the program. My workplace also uses this on all the computers which is how I first found it, and they have full confidence in it.

First of all, there are a lot of extremely positive reviews about this product and a lot of very negative ones as well. In a sense, both sides are correct. After having used System Mechanic Pro off and on for the past 5 years or so, Ive come to find that the trick to getting the software to operate at its fullest potential is to never take the softwares recommendation on how to automatically fix things for granted. Running a system check and then letting the software automatically fix everything is just asking for trouble. This is especially true when it comes to repairing the registry. I have had way too many experiences where System Mechanic Pro completely FUBARd my computer because I was dumb enough to let it automatically fix hundreds of alleged registry problems when my PC had been running just fine in the first place.

I consider this program to be MALWARE. It has corrupted my computer and registry. Their own tech support cannot remove this from my computer although some files were removed making the problem worse. It wont uninstall and infects everything. pdf files wont open and has disrupted my workflow. Tech support suggested that I purchase a 3rd party removal program and remove it from my registry bit by bit. Trust me, if you install this youll be sorry and never get rid of it. This piece of malware has caused me so many problems but it never forgets to pop up and ask for more money to extend your time in hell with this thing.

So far, it has lived up to all of the promises made my the manufacturer. There is a wide array of options from the novice to more advanced users.
