Greater than one weekIf you are someone that needs a tape measure like this for daily use (construction, etc.), pay a little more for one that will last. This is good for occasional use, but will not last for regular use.

> 3 dayI probably have 10 measuring tapes around, someplace, but who knows where they are when you need one. And I needed one for an upcoming project. Decided to get a decent one. Most major brands have a lock that slides down to hold the tape in place, this one does not require you to push anything down to lock it into place, only have to push to retract. It is not quite as fancy as some, does not have metric, but will easily meet my needs for this project.

> 3 dayFor some reason, tape measures grow legs and walk away in my household. My father and I both have our own collections of tools, and when something needs measuring, neither of use can seem to find a tape measure! I got this one to keep in my Husky roll away work station. I reasoned that its bright green color would help it stand out among my old black tape measure and my fathers chromed units. And stand out it does! Every time Ive needed a tape measure Ive been able to easily locate this one. The automatic brake on this tape measure has taken some getting used to. The only other auto-braking tape measure my father and I have used is the old motorized Black and Decker unit he got as a gift years ago, and it too has grown legs and walked away. As I use the tape more though, Im growing to like the auto brake more. Its nice to quickly pull one or two feet of tape out and not worry about getting whipped by the tape when I invariably forget to set the lock. But that raises a question: How durable and reliable is the brake in this tape measure? Ive only had this tape measure for a month and it only sees slight occasional use, so I cant answer that question. The whole unit feels well made though, so I hope that the brake is just as solid.

> 3 dayThe measure tape is very good quality if not better than the more expensive alternatives. Would be even better if it has both inch and cm

> 3 dayHave always used the self retracting tapes where you had to manually lock them. Its so great not having to worry about the tape snapping back because the end wasnt secure. It takes a little getting use to working backwards, pushing the button to extend / retract the tape, but it doesnt take long before you really appreciate the difference. The tape is easily readable. Not sure about how long the self locking mechanism will last, but so good, so far.

> 3 dayThis tap measure is just what I wanted. My last one, different brand , just snapped, so I thought Id have to shell out another 25 bucks for a new one. Came across this Komelon ,and it not only has the self stop feature, but also the retract button that wont smack you in the face. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, for one reason. The hard plastic packaging. There are layers upon layers of this material, and it takes forever to get it off. I needed scissors and a utility knife to get it out. And it was very dangerous, because of the sharp edges from the plastic and tools, could have very easily cut myself. I was thoroughly ticked off by the time I was done. The hardest part was getting the belt clip free, as it is swathed above it, on the sides, and below it where its screwed in place. I cant believe some moron came up with this design, and other morons approved it. There have to be dozens of easier ways to package this tape measure, like maybe a cardboard box, but they picked this one. Theres no way Ill buy another when this one bites the dust, unless they change the packaging. Id rather pay the extra money, than to go through the grief of opening this one.

Greater than one weekI have purchased 4 or 5 compact tape measures in the past few years for car emergency kits, household use, etc... I ordered one of the Komeleon tapes to try out because it was a good price and has good reviews. Those other 4-5 tapes I purchased were given to friends and I bought 3 more of these to replace them. They are that good. The locking mechanism is smooth and the tape reels in quickly but not as fast as most tapes that bite your hand when they come flying in and get kinked near the end. Best of all I measured my wall for the other night for an 8 fish replica mount I am getting made soon. This tape was able to span the the gap without collapsing. For a compact tape measure that is beyond impressive. There was a large bow in the tape when measuring 8 feet but if you find any other tape measure on the market that can hold horizontal for 2/3 of its length let me know. If you find one for this value I will buy them all.

> 3 dayAs soon as this tape measure arrived, my husband said and I quote, “I am so jealous!” He has the standard tape measures, but none are as substantial as this nor have an awesome locking feature that the Komelon has. I needed this in my nursing job, where I have to measure distances that people are able to walk in their homes. This is easily read from a standing position when it’s on the floor and stays in its locked position. Big, hearty recommendation!

> 3 dayEasy to use and read. Iike the automatic lock feature. Release button (unlock) is in a bit if an awkward spot but not a deal breaker by any means. For the money youd be hard pressed to find one better.
