Komelon SL2816; 16 x 3/4 Self-Lock Tape Measure

This works, but I found that for the price, the quality could have been better. I ended up returning it and went to the store to buy a good old Stanely tape measure. But this would definitely work for most people in a pinch. Or who doesnt want to go to the store to purchase a tape measure.

I have purchased 4 or 5 compact tape measures in the past few years for car emergency kits, household use, etc... I ordered one of the Komeleon tapes to try out because it was a good price and has good reviews. Those other 4-5 tapes I purchased were given to friends and I bought 3 more of these to replace them. They are that good. The locking mechanism is smooth and the tape reels in quickly but not as fast as most tapes that bite your hand when they come flying in and get kinked near the end. Best of all I measured my wall for the other night for an 8 fish replica mount I am getting made soon. This tape was able to span the the gap without collapsing. For a compact tape measure that is beyond impressive. There was a large bow in the tape when measuring 8 feet but if you find any other tape measure on the market that can hold horizontal for 2/3 of its length let me know. If you find one for this value I will buy them all.

It is heavy! Didnt need something this substantial just to keep in my purse.

I have been a carpenter for over 40 years and have purchased many of these tapes in the past. In fact they are the only tapes I have purchased for quite a while. They arent perfect because as some of the lower ratings have mentioned they will get quirky and not work as intended but because of the amount of different brands of tape measures that I have used in the past these ones hold up for the longest time .and are compact enough to sit in your nail belt without the bulk and weight of many other brands.

I say for the price this is a decent, 4/5 star, measuring tape. The tape itself is pretty flimsy and gets pretty annoying when the length goes over like 20 inches. Would be a lower score but you get what you pay for. Does the job for measuring household items and areas.

Nothing but pros for this tape. Tape is stiff enough you dont always have to have a second set of hands (when you cant hook onto anything). The tape will lock in the out position which is super handy. Tape overall is durable. Only down side, dont open it out past 24 9. It will fall apart.

Have been super reliable and have had my old tapes for seven years or so and finally killed my 25 footer so got the same tape and am sure to be good for seven more years. Woodworking, mechanic, lumber cutting

Komelon had the 1st process to effectively laminate Teflon to measuring tapes many decades ago. This is a great tape for 30%-50% less than brand/known names, but meets or exceeds their performance. Large numbers, easy to read yellow black tape. Good rigidity when extended. Long lasting, smooth and effective Teflon coating. Moderate weight on the belt for a 25 foot tape indicating good steel thickness overall. Sturdy, easy find fluorescent green case with rubber padding and comfort contours makes for a nice working tape. We replaced our favorite decades-old Komelon measuring tape that a careless friend nicked with a circular saw on a cutting table... highly recommended for price, function, durability and value.
