Komelon SL2816; 16 x 3/4 Self-Lock Tape Measure

Measuring tape is best I’ve ever used in quality and price.

Had 2 of these so far, and I keep coming back. 1st one got lost. 2nd one ripped the tape (my fault). 3rd one (current) working well. No issues with the lock feature like others. But agree, the tape does come ripping back in a hurry. Good overall.

I really wanted to like this tape measure. Reviews were solid, and Im a fan of the push button to release. However there are two major problems: 1. The hold isnt very strong, so it often retracts on its own. 2. The metal tape itself is quite flimsy. All I want in a tool is for it to work. This falls short. On the hunt for a higher quality tape.

I probably have 10 measuring tapes around, someplace, but who knows where they are when you need one. And I needed one for an upcoming project. Decided to get a decent one. Most major brands have a lock that slides down to hold the tape in place, this one does not require you to push anything down to lock it into place, only have to push to retract. It is not quite as fancy as some, does not have metric, but will easily meet my needs for this project.

The thing jammed in its second day. Theres actually YouTube videos on how to repair the jams because theyre so common with this brand. I tried repairing myself but made it worse. But a better brand

it’s just perfect. Very easy to use, not too bulky, the locking feature is handier than you would think.

This seems like a very good, very sturdy measuring tape. The packaging is ingenious and wonderful. My arthritic hands are so grateful.

I like the auto locking feature. It took a few times using it to get used to it locking on its own when extended but its a great design.
