Morakniv Kansbol Fixed Blade Knife with Sandvik Stainless Steel Blade

> 3 dayI’ve got three knives from this manufacturer: A blunt end, blaze orange model that floats, a basic green one with a narrow blade and an all-plastic sheath that clips securely to a pocket, and this one. This is a really fantastic design. The blade is wider in case you need to beat on the spine for some reason, and the handle is perfectly comfortable. Of course it’s a razor-sharp, east to maintain edge like my others. The fire starting rod is easy to use & works well. In case you haven’t bought one of these before, you’ve got to scrape the paint off before you start using this. Once that’s done, whittle some curly chips onto dry tinder, and then use the back of the blade to shoot sparks at the metal shavings until they catch. It’s more challenging than using a pint of diesel fuel, but easier to carry. I don’t see the purpose of the scalloped grind near the pointy end of the blade. It looks cool though. The sheath isn’t my favorite. I like the plastic clippy ones better. Also, the place your thumb lands to push the knife out is smaller than on my others. Still, an absolute bargain and a life long tool.

> 3 dayI have used this for the past two months and it is wonderful. It is the first very sharp knife I have ever owned. Everything goes through it like butter. I got it in orange and I am glad I did. It is so much easier to find in my dark bag.

> 3 dayThe knife is great, but I cant say much for the fire steel. All I can get is minimal sparks unlike more robust fire steels. So I got a 5/16 drill and drilled the bottom hole on the fire steel holder and replaced the fire steel with an Exotac fire steel.Fits in the holder like a glove. Now all I need is a short length of 1/4 thick bungee cord so the fire steel stays put in the holder. All you bushcrafters out there I highly suggest replacing the fire steel with the Exotac fire steel. When you need a fire in a hurry you cant afford to be messing around with novelty junk.

> 3 dayGreat! I’m a huge fan of Mora as both an entry level tool, and a collectors piece for a knife snob, haha. I took it hunting with me, and I’ve even used it to slash open amazon packages, it’s awesome. Absolutely love it. You won’t find anything better, or of a higher quality for the price, and even for a great deal more money.

> 3 dayThis was my first Mora and after all the stellar reviews, I was super excited to see it arrive today. Ive got to say, however, that my enthusiasm quickly dissipated when I pulled it out out of the sheath. It was immediately obvious from the nicks and fingerprints across the blade, along with the rediculously uneven edge that the quality control was lacking when they finished and packaged mine. Its not that Im somebody who worries about my knives looking pretty, but Id like them to be sharp, and I think quality control is important. You can see in my first picture how there are flattened spots that skip along the edge of the blade. Add to that the fact that the blade is labelled as a carbon steel instead of the stainless I ordered. While I can certainly understand mistakes slipping through the cracks here and there, the combination of obvious issues really became a letdown for me. While there are those who dont care much for the sheath design, I think it will work great for wearing on my belt or carrying in my small bag. Id like to try again, and hope that we can just chaulk this particular knife up to my own bad luck. Hopefully, the second times a winner. ;) Heres hoping!

09-06-2025I have bought several mora knives in past. I was drawn to this one as perfect blend of weight size and sheath. It is my standard edc trail knife now for backcountry hike and mountain biking. It is light versatile and quality that is perfect.

> 3 dayI wanted something in a Mora that could be just as at home in the kitchen drawer in the sheath dry and clean as out in the field. The Kansbol fits the bill like a glove. It came RAZOR sharp. The thinner point allows for precision cuts , working with meat or vegetables, plenty strong enough for light batoning making kindling and shavings. Easy to sharpen on a flat ceramic stone or hone with a DMT rat tail fine red diamond rod by eye, or round ceramic rod. Stays in the sheath, its not just going to fall out on you. Any negative would fall to the color, IMHO it needs to be a brighter safety orange in case of loss for field work, but I have paracord, no deal breaker there. Finish was a tad rough but hey its a Mora. I mean you are going to hone it, clean it , polish it if need be with something right? Semichrome, Flitz, RENWAX...wash it, dry it, food grade mineral oil, wipe down and store. I like it better than the Companions (I know right? Blasphemy) Great tool for the price. Theres a red one out now, when it hits Amazon I may pick it up too!
