Greater than one weekI frequent Kenrockwell.com and read about the various equipment reviews he does, and occassionally make a purchase based on his feedback. I had been in the market for a good everyday lens, and the Nikon 35mm 1.8 fit the bill perfectly. The price is a steal (if you get it at the $199) for the quality and speed of this lens. I had been using the 18-200mm most of the time, but recently have been shooting the animals around he house, grandchild, and other near subjects, and due to most of this being indoors, this lens is amazing. Ill leave the technical details to the other reviewers, but from a casual photographer, this is about the only lens Ill need the majority of the time. I bought mine at Ritz.com when Ken posted they had availability, even though they were out by the end of that day, but it shipped the following week.

> 3 dayThe results of this lens are very stunning. It produces a shallow depth of field, and makes it easier to take pictures in low lighting scenarios. But the lack of zoom takes a while to get used to and can be an inconvenience when you just want to snap a quick photo and go (for more casual users).

> 3 dayWell, what can I say that most dont already know about this fantastic lens..... Its a wonderful lens for the DSLR DX format camera as this 35mm lens crops out to 52mm on the DX format camera. Normally, you would opt for the Nifty fifty, however, this turns out to be more of a portrait lens on the DX camera coming in at 75mm. Either way, I recomend the 35mm as a first lens.
