This is an amazing lens, especially for the price. Shot an entire baby shower with this a day or two after I bought it and have been very pleased with the photos I got, especially in the dark setting we were in. Im so glad that I bought it - it and my nify fifty (50mm 1.8) are easily the most used lenses in my arsenal right now. Ive fallen completely in love with prime glass. Maybe next Ill grab the 85mm or 105mm!

Excellent! A must for your lens collection, using on Nikon D5500.

What a difference good glass makes. This will allow you to take pictures inside at night and in poor light. Even better in proper light. I love it, simple and small. It is a lot lighter than the stock lens. If you want to zoom in use your legs.

I researched online for a while before deciding what lens to use for my documentary films. It was a toss up between the 50mm, the 18-55 zoom, and the 35mm. I will tell you that the 35mm does NOT disappoint. This lens has amazing clarity, nice depth of field when shooting at lower ISO and F stop numbers, and with a CPL filter, it really pops! Perfect for any short or long format film maker or anyone doing low budget TV or Web series work.

This is a fantastic lens. Pictures are very sharp. It worked well with my Nikon d3100 and now I still plan on using it with my nikon d610. Love this piece of glass!

This is my first prime lens for my Nikon D3100. As a novice photographer, the bokeh effect is awesome! Read a lot of reviews and suggestions stating this should be most peoples primary lens...I believe them...it has not left my camera since I installed it!

Produce sharp and clear images. Great in low light and indoor settings. I was hesitant between the 55mm or the 35 mm, but glad I went with this one.

From the Manufacturer

With a compact, lightweight design, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G provides the high reproduction capability and picture quality for which Nikkor lenses are renowned at an affordable price. The ring type SWM offers quiet AF operation. Although all lens groups shift during focusing, the front element and filter mount do not rotate and the barrel length does not change, which is useful when using filter mounted SB-R200 Wireless Remote Speedlight units.
