    I was so disappointed because the auto focus did not work. Then I watched the video and that was no help what so ever and all my other lens are working just fine. I am not sure where all the reviews came from but mine was a bust. One star I thought was a little high.

    Ich habe das Objektiv jetzt seit gut einem Monat und bin sehr erfreut über die gute Abbildungsleistung, Helligkeit und auch die Haptik. Für mich war es bislang stets so, dass ich Zoom-Objektive benutzt habe und daher ist dies meine erste Festbrennweite auf meiner D90. Es ist natürlich ein großer Unterschied, wenn man plötzlich nicht mehr den Bildausschnitt frei wählen kann, sondern mit dem umgehen muss oder darf, was die Festbrennweite bietet. Dennoch werde ich auch in Zukunft meine Zoom-Objektive nutzen, da man einfach mehr Spielraum hat für die meisten Standard-Situationen.

    I orginially wanted to get the 50mm but this was the best, cheaper option for my crop sensor. The lens is an absolute titan — takes incredible portraits, impressive landscape, and amazingly sharp and beautiful architecture shots when combined with the right camera settings. Very satisfied, incredible for its price range.

    I am very happy with this lens, the images that I have gotten so far have been outstanding. I still have a lot to learn with DSLR shooting, so I cant get into technical details, but I had read alot of reviews and am not disappointed.

    Somebody said that this lense is great only for low light. Not true. If I want to stay light, I use this lense the whole trip. I just get closer and further from the subject. The benefit is: is light, and is small... and I can use it indoors or city outdoors w/o changing lenses...

With a compact, lightweight design, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G provides the high reproduction capability and picture quality for which Nikkor lenses are renowned at an affordable price. The ring type SWM offers quiet AF operation. Although all lens groups shift during focusing, the front element and filter mount do not rotate and the barrel length does not change, which is useful when using filter mounted SB-R200 Wireless Remote Speedlight units.

The AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G optical design allows a different look and feel to images taken with zoom lenses, and its dimensions are ideal for discrete snapshots and landscape shooting with a picture angle that approximates that of the human eye. The AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G has two focus modes, M/A (manual override autofocus) and M (manual focus). The M/A mode enables instant manual switching during AF operation. The lens also features a rubber seal to minimize moisture ingression around the mount and can focus down to 0.3 meters (0.98 ft).
