Initially I was impressed, its a nice keyboard for the price. It looks well constructed, but the backlight does not change color or match my Razor mouse even with Razor software. After a few months of pretty mild use, certain keys have also started having duplicate or triple outputs. Like if I press / I get /// or aapple instead of apple. Its pretty annoying when it comes to passwords or using command prompt.

I will type this review exactly has it comes out of my keyboard: I bought this product because I like smaller keyboards, I also like lighted keyboards with good switches. Although the lighting iss great and the the clickynesss of the keyboard is great, there is some MAJOR problemss with keysss sticking and sstaying stuck for a loooong time. It just seems to be random and doesnt happen conssisteently from key to key. Although some keys seem to have morre problems than others, even AFTER constant cleaning of the keys and keyboard. After sseveral attempts of fixing this through upgrading Synapse (the driver sssoftwwware of Razer) and contacting support (running through their useless attempts to fix it), it continues to happen over and over again and causses major issues in competitive gaming (as well ass doing any sort of wrriting of code). You will dodge longer, or just seem to randomly do ssomething that you shouldnt. Asssss you can see with this review, the continual key stickynesss is nothing you would want in a game or to even do daily work. There doesnt seem to be a solid fix for it AND Synapse hasss been in beta now for years, so I dont expect a fix to come to the keyboard anytime soon. So my suggestion, serious gamerrs and developers should stay FAR FAR FAR away from this product and probably all Razerr keyboards. NOTE: This review was not changed other than to correct spelling errors. The repeattted keys you see are typing at a normal speed on the keyboard. So imagine how it is for gaming or writing code? Pathetic to say the least. UPDATE 04/16/2020: RRazerr reached out to me to help fiix the keyboard (afterr they reepliiied to thiis review). However, after II rreplied to them about my issue, the responded with a tiicket frrom theiiir tiiicketing system, and they neverr rresponded beyond me addiing additional information to it. As you can see, Im sttiill using the same keyboard and having the same problem (I cant geet a newerr keyboard yet to replace thiiis POS).

UPDATE: Yeah, so the multiple characters from one keypress issue has crept into the picture. Specifically, the number 5 key, which depending on how hard the key is struck while typing, can slap down betweeen 1-3 5s. This is really unacceptable in a KB at this price range. And Razer, youre supposed to be better than this! The issue isnt a dealbreaker for gaming, but is a big pain in the ass when typing words, and especially passwords!!! So, I no longer casn recommend this kb. So mechanically, this kb has done well for me. Ive had none of the repeating key press issues some claim to have. The RGB lighting is awesome, one cazn set up the lighting to highlight specific keys, and you can set up different profiles for different ligfhting for different games. As for design, its kind of a mixed bag... The wrist rest is outstanding, its cushy and feels decent againsst the skin and it connects to the kb via magnets. Its super simple to just pick up and remove the wrist rest to make room on ones desk. But the choice to keep the secondaries unlit on the keys was absolutely stoopid. You cannot see the secondary keys because someone at Razer thought that everyone has them all memorized. Well, we all do not. This makes quickly finding and hitting something like, say $ or & more difficult than if they had, oh I dunno, made them light up. I get it, this is a gaming kb, but most folks also use thier gaming pc for other computing needs thus theyre typing things and thats where these keys not being lit could be an inconvenience for anyone who doesnt have them all perma-memorized. I do also like that the cord is removeable for quick removal from the desk, great for when one wants to wipe down ones desk. The ditching of the number pad saves a lot of deskspace, but some gamers will miss it, depending on the games they play. Some games are just better with a numpad. I dont find I use one in my gaming, so I went for one without, ymmv. Over all, the kb has worked well for me, and while the RGB lighting is excellent and fully configurable, the lack of lighting for secondaries sees this lose two stars for me, and had it been clearly noted by Razer, Id likely have bought a different kb.

I bought this hoping for a silent keyboard to use in the work environment. The build quality of the keyboard and cable are all good, the functionality is overall good, but the advertised silent attribute is not really there. I have experience with mechanical keyboards and commercially-made silent switches, and knowledge of what contributes to noise in a mechanical keyboard setup. The Razer Orange switches used here are comparable to Cherry MX Browns or Gateron Browns in terms of both feel and sound level. The keycaps look similar to Cherry profile and they are shine-through. The keyboard has a sort of floating design in which you can see the sides of the tops of all the switches, and that helps with spreading the lighting effect. You do not have to install or use Razer Synapse software to use the keyboard and control backlighting, but you can use the software if youd like to remap keys, create custom macros, etc. Package included: - keyboard - thin plastic cover to protect the keyboard from dust - detachable braided micro USB cable with rubber covers - optional o-rings for keycaps - basic keycap puller (ring claw type) - Razer papers and stickers Overall good features: - plug and play, not required to use the software for basic functionality - good overall lighting visibility - good build quality overall - switches feel good to type with Personal complaints: - The tactile switches dont really make this keyboard silent. A different switch design and/or case design would have helped to further reduce sound. The o-rings only helped a little bit to dampen the sound from the keycaps downward motion. Speaking from experience I have used Cherry MX and Kailh silent switches before, and they are noticeably quiet as desired with no keycap o-rings needed either. - The backlighting does not light up the shifted symbols or FN functions on the keycaps. For example on the number row in the dark you cannot see the symbol legends like ! and on the F row in the dark you cannot see the volume control/media control legends. On other keys like the slash / you cannot see the question mark ? in the dark since its also not lit. This issue is not as bad if you are not working in the dark or very low lighting, but isnt the best purpose of backlighting for helping to see it all in the dark or low lighting? At minimum, it would have been better if the shifted symbols were also lit with backlighting, because I think almost everyone uses those as much as all the letters and numbers. - The stabilizers used are the basic metal bar style (no Cherry style stems on the ends). The stabilizers contribute to noise a little bit and this design contributes to the difficulty of swapping in different keycap sets because youll need additional pieces that go into the Cherry style stem holes on most keycap sets. They did have some lube/grease from factory. - The bottom key row (CTRL, WIN, ALT, spacebar, etc) has mostly non-standard/uncommon sizes. This makes it harder for you to find full keycap sets (from non-Razer brands) to customize this keyboard with because of the bottom row keycap sizes. This non-standard bottom row sizing is also present on a lot of other gaming brand keyboards unfortunately. My thoughts: If you do not need the keyboard to be truly silent and you are not intending to change out the key cap set, this is a good affordable TKL option overall. Tactile switches are lower noise than any clicky, but to be quieter than a clicky is a low benchmark to beat. For me, the number one requirement I had was looking for a setup that is silent, and this really did not do it. Even with the provided optional o-rings installed, it did not bring the noise down to what other mechanical keyboards with silent switches provide. A lot of other brands offer keyboards with different silent switches installed within a variety of price ranges. Some are Ducky, Durgod, Leopold, Vortex, Obins, Varmilo, Filco, KBParadise, IKBC, Mistel and Ganns. For silent switches, Cherry MX, Gateron, and Kailh have affordable ones and have both linear and tactile types available. Theres some others out there when you get more in-depth into mechanical keyboard building but they cost more and are not often seen in pre-built commercially-offered setups.

Edit: Ive added one star since my initial review. On Razers end, their warranty was able to support me with a functional replacement. Its such a shame because the new keyboard didnt have a wrist rest and is actually a different beast altogether, or so I will disclose. A upgrade on paper, but not the way I may have most wanted. If the orange switch version of this BlackWidow didnt have any issues, it would have been the perfect keyboard thats suited for my needs. Ill be fair, I believe the support team did the best they could. The teams involved in product dev. and manufacturing just seem to have botched the keys I had issues with, and further research say Im not the only one with the problem. Had this for about a week now and the chroma effects glitch out when using in tandem with other lighting features. Started to get the iconically frustrating double clicks on keys like a, t, d, s, etc. the day I got it. Banging on the broken keys for a press or two works for a couple minutes until it starts bugging out again This is definitely not a software problem btw, Ive made the lengthy and troubling journey of reviewing my computer and the synapse program of any potential incompatibility or mishap. This double typing applies to any laptop and desktop Ive tried it on. Just gonna use my old keyboard for now and shelf this since I cant return it. Didnt feel like it was worth the effort. Im going to avoid Razer Keyboards for now. Spent good money on what wouldve potentially been an awesome experience.

The orange switches are quiet, but dont feel as good as loud keys. I guess its just a tradeoff. The keyboard is nice and minimal, RGB looks good, and the wrist pad is nice

Good keyboard, rgb pretty bright, durable and very long lasting. It’s a good keyboard, but there are better options. Buttons are too delicate, some may not find this an issue but I do. I’ll go to hit the R for a reload and accidentally hit E. It’s more user than anything due to it being linear, I just don’t like it for that reason. Buttons aren’t too quiet, if you’re looking for a really silent keyboard, I’d look somewhere else. Overall for price point I’d go for a K70 rather than this but if you don’t know what you’re getting into and just want a keyboard it’s not bad.
