Sigma 30mm F1.4 Contemporary DC DN Lens for Sony E

I own this lens and the sony 50 mm f1.8 prime, which I purchased at the same time. This lens is my go to for most situations when I am working with people, inside or out. I find that this lens provides me with consistent performance and that the image quality is very, very good. While this lens is certainly larger than a lot of other options, the functions are very smooth, the autofocus is decent (I have yet to find one that I would call perfect), and for the price of this lens, I dont think there is anything else that is going to come close. I would certainly recommend this lens to anyone. (buy a kit... you will pay the same price for the lens, but with some SD cards or other accessories thrown in with it)

Excellent lens! Wonderful autofocus. Razor sharp at 1.4 and beautiful bokeh. Much heavier than SEL3518. Therefore perhaps not an ideal carry around lens.

Auch mit der aktuellen Firmware kommt die 30mm gerade im Bereich Autofokus zB der 16mm nicht hinterher. Beim Filmen kriegt man das auch deutlich mit, da der AF ständig am Einstellen ist, was bei meiner 16mm deutlich ruhiger läuft.

Das Sigma kam heute erst an und wurde umgehend an die E-PL2 gestöpselt und in die Stadt ausgeführt. Diese Eindrücke sind also ganz frisch! Fotografiert wurde überwiegend mit offener Blende.

Può sembrare strano ma questo è un obbiettivo fantastico per il prezzo a cui è venduto. A massima apertura è molto nitido e veloce nella messa a fuoco automatica. Lho usato anche per foto sportive e devo dire che ha realizzato foto magnifiche. CONSIGLIATISSIMO (provato su una a6000)

Sharp, fast, good bokeh

I was worried that this wasnt going to be as great as the Sony 35mm, but I really do love this lense. The 1.4 aperture is great and basically you get the same quality as the Sony lense for much less!

Coming from film rangefinders, Im used to shooting prime. I usually forget that a digital camera has a zoom function. That said, the lens that came with the NEX5N was meh for me. It wasnt sharp enough, build quality was alright. I bought the 16mm E-mount pancake, which was definitely sharper than the zoom lens. However, I need a 50mm equivalent for daily use. Having used a 50mm Nikon manual lens on the 5N body, I was spoiled with the ultra sharp photos it produced. The 1.5x crop factor meant that I was using a 75mm equivalent, too tele for daily use. I needed something in between. Enter this handy lens. Its simple, build quality is okay, but it works. It is sharp with a very narrow field when shooting wide open. Its perfect for portraits, taking photos of food (Instagra,-style), and is generally a handy lens for daily all-purpose use. I doubt that Ill remove this lens soon from the camera body. Definitely satisfied with this purchase.
