»Ive been using this drive at work and home and am very happy with its performance and design. I have the 1TB model which when formatted in Windows using NTFS ended up being 932GBs. »The outer casing consists of hard plastic and the green silicone material you can see in the photos. The green silicone is actually what is surrounding the hard drive inside, protecting it from drops and is how the suspension system works. The green silicone also has a slot that goes all the way around which is used to hold onto the included USB 3.0 cable using 2 clips. The 2 plastic pieces simply screw into each other on each side using 4 screws. The USB port has a flap in the silicone to keep it closed and free of dust when not in use. There are also 2 openings on the bottom plastic part where 2 green strips come through and provide grip on whatever surface you put it on, preventing slips. Simple and effective design for protection, grip and convenience. »There is no external powered needed for this, power it taken from the USB port on whatever device you are using it with »Copying to and from the drive was speedy and I the speeds I received when running a speed test were about what I expected for a traditional hard drive over USB 3.0. I attached a photo of my results which were 120.0MB read and 115.8MB write for sequential writes. Im not sure if Silicon Power wanted me to do this, but I did it anyways, I unscrewed the 4 screws to see what drive was inside. I know Silicon Power does not manufacture hard drives like Western Digital and Seagate do. I was hoping to find a brand name from one of the very few large drive manufacturers and I am happy to report I did. Inside is a 1TB standard Seagate laptop drive. Not some cheap white label drive, a quality brand drive. Good choice. »I have not tested the ability to survive a drop because I am actually using this on a daily basis so I am being slightly cautious. I am however throwing it into a backpack filled with things and plopping it down on a desk multiple times a day, you dont want to treat any standard hard drive with moving parts too terribly, but so far so good, no problems with performance or any strange issues. »Overall this has been a great drive for me and I recommend it to anyone looking for a more durable external drive to take on the go, if anything changes I will update this review in the future. *I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review, I hope this review was helpful.

A very good device to store tons of games, movies, tv shows, music, or whatever media youd like. I have so much stored on it and yet its not even halfway full. The USB 3.0 makes data transfers very fast(as long as you have the 3.0 jacks). The only thing that I have found that is wrong with this product is that the little black things that hold the USB cable come off very easily. They can go back on, but they are easily lost. All in all 5/5 stars! Edit: Have had this for almost a year now and still working good as ever.

So far, so good. I just wanted to address the cable-clip problem: the clip stay on the cables, by the clips dont stay on the drive unit. Its a bad design, but it doesnt affect the drive at all, duh! I got the frequently bought together Amazon case for, like, 6 bucks, and Ive taken the clips off, put them in the interior pocket with the cable, and everything is still in one place.

Recognized instantly by laptop and able to write. Easily formatted for exFat larger files. A little dissapointed in the cable attachment as the small holders easily pop out and get lost. I got this specifically so that whenever I grabbed it the cable would be there.

I was looking for a rugged Portable hard drive and SP A60 exceed my expectation, i am a frequent traveler, in the bus and on the plane i take my hard drive with me, the challenge is due to frequent movement especially in public transport, i usually end up with damage drives, most time times i have to hold my hard drive in the bus to serve as a shock absorber to prevent the drive from been damage. I have traveled a couple of times with this A60 trough rugged roads and i always placed it in my luggage, what ever that is used as a shock proof is really working. Another amazing thing is the price, If not for the reviews and some you tube videos i have seen, i can never believe that a Portable hard drive with all these specification could sell so cheap. No doubt this is the best money can buy. Not to forget, if you are an attention seeker, SP A60 design is unique, its one in town

great product. I just plugged it into my ps4 and my system detected it, asked me if I wanted to use extended storage and it was set up. Transferred 450gb of data to it in 40 minutes. No sound from it to worry about and makes my system run faster as far as menus go, now that the external hard drive has freed up space for the basic programs to use from the original hard drive. Do not think you will get faster load times I have not really noticed any difference. I had issues with lagging when trying to go to the power off menu or other main menus on the ps4 due to a almost full original 500gb hd this has solved those issues for me. Dont know if others will find the same results but Im thoroughly pleased.

I really needed an external hard drive that was much more durable than your average one. I previously had one that that was too wimpy - it broke just from jostling around a little bit in my book bag even though it was in a separate pocket from everything else! This one definitely seems like it can take a hit and I really like tat its water resistant too. The cord storage is pretty nifty as well. Also, maybe its just been a while since I had my last external hard drive but this is waaaaay faster at transferring files than Im used to too :)

I tried to download several video games using this external hard drive but gives me an error. It says it cannot differentiate between upper and lower case, I have no idea what this means. I am now using it to back up my computer and that is working excellent like it should. It also holds pictures. The only thing that I have had trouble with is trying to download video games which is the reason I purchased this. Great product if you are using it for a back up hard drive.

Bought this to use with MP3s in the car audio system (Ford Sync). Came preformatted with FAT32, which is what the system needed to see. Worked like a champ. Have about 150 Gig of MP3s and have had no problem playing them. Pros - LED (when drive is connected) will indicate whether connected to USB 2 or 3 by color. Non-skid strips on bottom and bumper around drive. Cons - while it is called a rugged armor drive, the LED shines thru the plastic shell so it cant be that rugged. Shell has a little flex to it also. Seems to be a good drive so far.

So far I like this external drive, although Im confused about the partitions it has in it. Need to contact the company and find out what the partitions mean - never experienced that with other external drives so I dont know what to do with them or what they are for or...I looked at the companys website and they have NO information about the partitions and I couldnt find any videos about it; so its very strange that they dont provide any info about how to best utilize the partitions. There is no info on the box that it has partitions. I would think they would want customers to know about and understand how to best utilize the partitions on the drive, but so far, no luck! And, Im most interested in the longevity of products like this. Since I just got it, I cant speak to that. I bought it because of the competitive price and because of the advertised military grade aspect and am hoping it does last a long time due to its advertised durability.
