Not the fastest in the world (hence the loss of one star), but otherwise? I love this thing! Ive now had this drive for over 4 months, and I use it to store photos and ebooks that I cant keep on my laptop. I feel like I could throw this drive into the nearest puddle, and my terabyte of data would be just fine. Its easy to keep track of the USB cable with the silicone divot all around the top of the drive, and the neon green strip ensures that I can see it in my luggage, on the floor of my car, and in my purse! Thanks.

Took it out of the box, plugged it in, and it just works! Soooo much storage space, I was able to transfer a HUGE amount of pictures, videos, and other files from my smartphone, and now my phone works like the day I bought it. NOTE... I downloaded the files to my computer first, then saved them to this unit. I also used it as a dedicated storage space while I was editing large video files, and it was fast, smooth, no issues!

This is a nice looking hard drive and I love that the cable attaches directly to it. The only problem with that is if you plan to put it into a a case made for these hard drives (like the amazon basic one I bought for it, it will not fit with the cable attached so you will need to remove the cable before storing it in the case. Transfer speed seems normal. Their widget that will schedule backups or transfers is VERY PRIMITIVE and not user friendly. This function needs a lot of work! This is why it got 4 stars out of 5. If it were up to my dad (which is whom I bought it for), he would have NEVER figured out the backup feature of this drive using its own software.

This drive seemed a little slower on large file transfers than the other model Armor drives that we have. After looking at the other drives, I reformatted this one to NTFS and partitioned it into 3 less than 500gb drives. That brought it up to the apparent speed of the others. Still a great drive.

After my husband passed away suddenly last year I decided to downsize and I moved last summer. A lot of things from our forty two years of marriage ended up in storage and my daughter is doing a phenominal job on doing our family tree, so we are going through pictures. She wanted to scan pictures and save them onto an external hard drive so they all could be together, so she used some of the Amazon Gift Card I got her for Christmas to buy the hard drive. I realized what a great idea that was, so I spent some time on Amazon checking out all the different models and the pros and cons of each. I knew that I wanted 1TB so that narrowed it a bit, and I read tons of reviews on each. What I liked about this one was that it was shock proof, scratch proof etc...I am very careful with my electronics, but everyone drops things occasionally, so I was really interested in what this one had to offer. I liked the way the USB cord wrapped and attached to the Hard Drive Itself. I figured there would be less chance of it getting lost. My daughter put all the pictures we have scanned already on to mine. She said it was fast and worked well. The only negative thing about it and it was not enough to take away a star was that the cord attaches to two clips, one on each side. However the small black clips are not permanently attached to either the hard drive or the USB cord and they fall off quite easily. They fell off the first time a couple of minutes after I took the hard drive out of the box and again when my daughter gave it back to me after adding the pictures. I originally planned not to buy a case, like I usually do for all my electronics, because of the shock proof and scratch proof properties. I decided to get one so that I could be sure that I didnt lose the cord or one of the clips. All the cases come in as different sizes as there are portable hard drives. I took the dimensions of the hard drive from the product page and then compared them with the dimensions of available cases in the price point I wanted to pay and I found an Orico case on Amazon which was reasonably priced. I chose the green color and was surprised when it arrived that it fit the hard drive like a glove and the green almost matched the green edging on the hard drive. I would recommend this portable hard drive because it works very well and has plenty of space for a lot of storage. As I stated, the loose clips to fasten the cord onto the unit does not effect the way the hard drive works, so unless that would be a deal breaker, you could pick up a case and be assured you wont lose the cord.

I kinda enjoyed it until the cord gave out. I think because the cord is so short caused a shortage or some type defect to wear it doesnt work anymore. Hopefully when my new cord comes tomorrow itll work . fingers crossed

Construction is top notch, clearly heavy duty and Im not worried about dropping it or anything. The cord is standard male USB to standard male USB which is a little odd. If you lose it youll have to get a replacement somewhere, and the way it attaches to the drive is a little suspect so I assume Ill probably misplace it at some point in the future. Drive works well with Windows as well as Mac OS

I had been looking at this Portable Hard Drive for several months, since I wanted the durability of a LaCie portable hard drive but not the high price. This hard drive is exactly the level of convenience and value that I need to store all my archived files and media data on my computer. When I hold the hard drive in my hand, I cant help but feel the security in knowing that the drive is protected by hard plastic and soft rubber. Most of all, the convenient cable storage assures me that I will never need to worry about packing a male-male USB cable with me wherever I go.

So far this portable hard drive seems good. I am not sure it is as rugged as they say as when I squeeze it a little hard the plastic has some give to it. I like the way the cord stores around the side. Writing to the disk is a little slow, but that is somewhat common in drives without external power. It is a nice compact size and light. There is rubber around the sides / and a little on the back which is good for drops. Mostly I am using it as a hard drive I can throw in a bag and take it back and forth to work, and this seems to fit the bill. I would recommend for anyone who needs a solid decently priced hard drive.

    Greater than one week

I am extremely displeased with this product. Due to the large amount of positive reviews, I chose to ignore the few negative ones and have unfortunately suffered the same issues described in those reviews. While the overall product appearance looks to be tough and reliable, immediately after transferring all of my data to the device, about 2 weeks later my computer stopped detecting any information. Prior to that, it was working fine and I kept it plugged in to my brand new desktop. After a couple of days of no success, I brought it in to my work IT specialist who advised that the device was non-responsive with multiple warnings that in order to use the device, I would need to format the disk. Clearly this was not an option since I had already backed up my lifes storage on this device. He explained that unfortunately we would need to format it and then run an emergency recovery program. I was able to retrieve some information but nowhere near my 50GB of information. I am extremely upset primarily for the fact that I am left to accept the fact that the device destroyed everything I had, I am out of the return period. I sincerely have never been so disappointed by a product. The least I could have is a refund but clearly, I no longer qualify.
