Great shave soap

completed my 4th shave, and I am impressed. Using a plisoft 24mm brush and a 1963 slime adjustable with astra blades. I love the smell, but find that my skin is a little dry after shaving. Not parched, but tingling. I also find that it slightly clogs my razor with residue. Not as clean as AOS or Proraso. Just my thoughts. Overall 4.5 stars.

I bought Tabac on the recommendation of a friend. He was correct, it is a very nice shave soap and produces a nice, creamy, aromatic lather that doesnt leave a lingering scent. It stays moist enough t produce a smooth, consistent shave. From my experience so far, about two weeks of use, the jar will last about a year.

Have about 25 soaps now , so it was time to try the great TABAC..Bloomed the soap, and I saw it from my shower..It was bubbling..Never saw that before..Now for the shave..Lathered well..To me, the scent was next to zero..I did, however, get a GREAT shave with it..the after shave was less than exciting, however..So I reapplied with Gingers Garden Havana Cognac..Much better.. For the money, with what I know now, I would pass..

Excellent product in a great container. If you use a shaving brush, YOU MUST TRY THIS PRODUCT! You wont be sorry.

Tabac Original is made from tallow. It has lubricating properties that arent found in many soaps. It lathers up to a rich creamy lather in the brush. I can shave with less fear of getting nicked when I use it. And then there is the scent. It has an odor resmbling fresh pipe tobacco. I dont particularly like it but I dond hate it either. I use it in a rotation with other shaving creams and soaps. Most of those are not tallow based. That allows them to be very slippery but they are not as protective as Tabac. Most of the good competitive tallow soaps cost considerably more. I would reccomend this to a friend looking for a good soap in a very nice container.

Initially I was turned off by the cost of this soap. But considering how many times I have seen it recommended, I relented and purchased. The scent is a mild soapy scent. I now use it everyday and given how little is used for each shave, this should last at least a year. The soap quickly produces a rich smooth lather-- much easier that all of the hard soaps I have used previously. Additionally, you reuse the ceramic bowl by dropping in a refill. Recommended.

The lather is exceptionally rich, better than Proraso in this regard. And the scent is really something special, perhaps not to modern tastes but personally it brings back good memories of visiting relatives in Europe in the 1980’s.

My top 4: *I was going to put 5 but really just thought these worth the effort. 1. Tabac: this scent is just ME. I love this stuff. Get your brush nice and wet and warm, give it a shake and lather. Mounds of lather, slick, warm, soft and such a leathery tobacco sweet scent. Not burnt tobacco but the actual plant. I just love everything about it. For me it is my if I only had 1 soap choice. This is a scent and soap that I shave with year round. 2. TOBS Sandalwood: I have acquired this recently and will say that as far as a luxury feeling lather goes, this is it. You will not find a better performing shave soap in my opinion. I little goes a long way. I’m just not as crazy about the scent, it’s ok, but there is a reason it is second to Tabac for me. 3. Cella: this stuff is near perfect. This is some seriously nice shave soap. If you want a great shave go with this. The only reason it is number 3 is because it smells like Christmas Cookies and for me that is not my everyday scent. But it does dissipate quickly. I find this is the soap I shave with when I am happy. Also worth noting, I let all of my family and friends smell all my soaps and pick their favorite and 20/20 people picked this. I agree, the scent is wonderful and so is the performance, I just can’t do Christmas Cookies everyday, especially when it is hot outside. 4. Proraso Green: just an absolute classic. Such a refreshing and crisp shave. The eucalyptus and menthol in this is hard to beat as far as the feeling of a shave goes. I just find the lather to not be as thick or rich. If I want an irritation free and smooth shave I will reach for this, and I find myself reaching for it a lot.
