9 Shinto Saw Rasp

> 24 hourMuch better than I thought it would be. The rasp is like band saw blades welded into a grid. There is a fine side and a coarse side for more aggressive cuts. Seems very well put together.

> 24 hourTakes off wood faster than any rasp I’ve used in 40 years of woodworking. The finer side is smooth. Sanding was easy after using this rasp.

> 24 hourNice quality. I have used it several times now to make guitar necks and haven’t had any problems. Seems like it’s going to hold up well.

> 24 hourWorks well on convex surfaces. Doesnt seem to clog like a Nicholson 49 rasp. Nice having both a coarse and fine surface. But it doesnt work on a concave surface. After using it for a day I like it. I had previously owned the other version of the shinto file with an offset handle. It is awkward to use. This is much better.

> 24 hourLove the Shinto rasp. Very sharp and makes quick work of shaping wood repairs on re-purposed furniture. Well worth the money.

> 24 hourThis rasp is one of the few tools in my shop that I actually look forward to using. I bought it mainly for shaping guitar necks, but Ive found myself reaching for it whenever Im filing any kind of wood. Its a sheer joy to use. With most other rasps, quick removal of material usually means hard to control. This rasp removes material quickly, but it does so in a way thats very controllable - even enjoyable. I wouldnt normally classify any rasp as a precision tool, but this one comes very close. The wide cutting surface helps me cover large areas as well as making it easier to maintain squareness when filing to a layout line. The open design means this thing will never clog with shavings, and with both coarse and fine-tooth sides, it all ads up to the best rasp Ive ever used. I have an assortment of files on my bench when Im shaping a guitar neck, but the Shinto rasp will always be the first tool Ill reach for, and I think it should be in the toolbox of anyone and everyone who does any type of woodworking.

> 24 hourThis is my second rasp in this style. I love the fact that it is double sided and it rips through even the hardest woods. Only issue is with the undersized slick handle. Needs tape to make it right.
