12-06-2025I use this to shave off arm rests and belly cuts on the guitars I build. I dont have the proper expensive equipment for doing things like this, and this works so well, I dont worry about buying more expensive tools. It has a deep sharp side and a less rough side. I use the sharp side to get close to the angle I want in the wood, and the other side to get it relatively smooth. Then I use an orbital sander to finish. Ive done three guitar bodies so far, and it works like a charm.

I discovered it about 10 years ago while helping out in the boat shop at the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum and have found it to be one of the most versatile smoothing and shaping tools in my toolbox. Im sure my son will find it to be the same.
