9 Shinto Saw Rasp
-
GH
> 3 dayWhen I first purchased a Japanese pull saw I was impressed . Im not impressed with this Shinto rasp at all. I used it to round over one board edge and got a regular file to finish the other edges. I would NOT buy again. It works but not as good as my normal rasps or files.

> 3 dayIm using this to shave down drywall. My corners were a bit proud and this is very effective to remove the excess. Very pleased with the tool thus far.

> 3 dayI purchased this Shinto rasp as a Christmas present for my son. He is new to woodworking and I wanted to make sure he had one. I discovered it about 10 years ago while helping out in the boat shop at the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum and have found it to be one of the most versatile smoothing and shaping tools in my toolbox. Im sure my son will find it to be the same.

> 3 dayIts easy to control when rasping with a light touch or gentle pressure, flip it over and you get extremely aggressive cutting, like rasping with 8 ryoba. Easy work on some tough oak. Follow the pictures on back, in Japanese but pretty straightforward... Dont rasp towards the work or in a way that will rip pieces out from edges. Push cut only.

> 3 dayBest tool I’ve bought in a while! Doesn’t last as long as I’d like but I use it pretty hard. Works great!

> 3 dayThis is one heck of a rasp. If you are a woodworker and enjoy making furniture, or just small crafts, youll find this to be a great addition to your arsenal of tools. It makes other like products take a hike. Great tool for the money.

> 3 dayWorks very well. Would like to have better way to hold the tip, but it does what it was designed to do very well.

Greater than one weekThe fastest and most agressive rasp I have ever used. Only con, it might be too agressive for some fine work. It wont replace anything in your toolbox but it is an excuse to buy another tool. There are other models with different handle rakes and coarseness I will be getting others. If you need instructions, forget it, the entire package is in Japanese. Now if only it would help me spell.
