I work with wood a lot- mostly carving with power tools and generally leaving the surface rough, but need things to touch up areas. I only have fairly cheap rasps, so dont know what a pricey (if that means good) rasp might do, but this thing really is great! Its pretty aggressive, yet smooth- probably especially useful if you want to create the illusion of a flatter surface. This feels almost like a hand plane, but rough.

I love this tool. Better than our western style cheese grater rasps and easier to use. I now have a new item in my basic tool inventory.

Very sharp ---- easy to use...and also like that its one side is finer, one is more aggressive. Excellent Buy!

It works great the only complaint is when you really put pressure on it it racks to one side or the other. It needs some type of bracing but it is a great quality tool

First time using a rasp. It gets caught really easily on corners and edges, gotta hold it more-so flat to a face and wear down to a softer roundover first before you can REALLY dig into something. Sometimes giving a more diagonal/sideways push seems to break grip when the rasp doesnt wanna go forward. If you feel like your work area is flat and not much progress is being made, then come from the opposite direction, create a roundover and a domed shape to the area, THEN go back and flatten it. When I started off using it, it felt like I had to prevent it from diggin into the wood or else it simply wouldnt go forward. Hours later, I wished I could push down harder and cut more. So it takes some technique and getting used to. The only downside is that theres nowhere to comfortably hold it with your off-hand. Part of my index finger is purple from gripping the sharp metal for ~3 hours while I worked on 2 guitars. Id buy it again, but Id go for a different model that has 2 handles for comfort.
