Canon MP480 All-in-One Photo Printer

easy set up, easy use- scans, copies and prints pretty well. Not bad at all for the price. It does use a fair amount of ink but thats about par for the course for an inkjet.

The printer does as advertised. I mostly use it to print papers for school. I try my best not to print anything else because the cost of the ink is crazy. The only reason I did not give this printer 5 stars is because it uses ink pretty fast. I got this printer May 2009 and I have not had any issues. I use the printer, copier and scanner. They all work well and it is easy to use. Its pretty self explanatory. I hooked it up with a random usb cord I had on hand. The printer does not come with a cord so if you decide to get the printer, then remember to buy a cord to attach it to your computer. ************************************************** I am updating my review Jan 23 2015. I have had this printer for about 6 years and I am still in school. Now full time instead of part time. I have been using it mostly for scanning documents for class more than printing in the past 2 years. I only find myself printing items to return rental textbooks, or return faulty merchandise, also to print coupons once in awhile. However, if your print head is not recognized then you cannot do anything not even scan with the printer. My copier worked fine with the canon ink and then it started giving an error saying B200 printer error see manual. There is nothing in the manual but I went on Google and none of the resolutions worked for me. The last resolution was to unplug the printer for 24 hours, I did that and now there is an error saying U051 print head is not installed, install print head. The same print heads are in the printer. I opened new ink and put it in the printer and it still did not work. That is $40 worth of new ink that will be thrown in the trash. I am getting an HP printer. I am finished with Canon because this is the second printer that stopped working for weird reasons. I gave the printer 2 stars for lasting 6 years. Also to get the a new print cartridge that cost $125. In other words, I will use that money for a printer instead. I going with HP because the cost of ink is half the price. I bought this printer/copier/scanner a little over a year ago. Right away we had big problems with color. Our old printer had no problem turning what you saw on the screen into what was printed. This one cannot do that. No matter how we adjusted our print settings it would not give us correct coloration. Some colors looked nothing like their original. The next problem was the scanner. After about 6 months, it stopped working. Again we tried fixing the problem to no avail. It does an okay job of coping black and white. Thats it. This is the first Canon printer we have owned and it will be the last. Oh yeah, the front panel also fell off, too.

I owned the canon mp240 and it broke but I had a ton of ink left so I decided to get the 480. Ive only used it a handful of times but it works great. I thought for the price, you cant beat it.

I was looking for an inexpensive photoprinter for a member of the family and purchased this printer, having always been satisfied in the past with Canon products. I found the Canon MP480 to function quite well in both scanning and printing. Installing it was no problem. Very glad I purchased iot and the price cannot be beat. David

The Canon MP480 works great for my needs as a light-use USB-connected printer and scanner, and as a photocopier. Its inexpensive but provides quality color printing and excellent scans. I personally like the way it closes up with no exposed buttons or parts when not in use. For those in need of fax functionality, be aware that is not included.

Had this printer for 3 months when it crapped out, returned it to cannon and they sent a replacement which has been working great.

I love my pleanty, much better than HP.

Do a search for error codes Pixma on the net. Youll find out. I know for a fact that some can be fixed through the internal computer on the printers but Canon hides the fact to squeeze you.

It gets the job done, but as someone in another review said, not without a ten minute drum solo first. Also, it seems to have issues printing from certain programs, such as Firefox web browser, for which it can randomly cause to crash.
