> 24 hourI purchased the Eaton Whole House Surge Protector to install on my house Square D service panel. Because the panel is located between two studs 14-1/2 apart and the busses are beyond the reach of the very short wires on the surge protector unit, it could not be installed on that panel. Instead, I installed it on the 200 amp Square D service panel in my detached woodshop. Installation there was easier and straightforward, as I could use a sidewall knockout location opposite an available circuit breaker slot. The wires were able to be trimmed down considerably to shorten the path from the 50 amp breaker to the Eaton. Given the shortness of the wires, I assume a panel sidewall would be the typical installation location for this product. I ordered a Siemens FirstSurge which has significantly longer wires to install on the house service panel.

> 24 hourHopefully It will stop the electric demon from possessing my electronics and letting the Gremlins infest my house. So far good. I will let you know when I take a direct lightning strike.

> 24 hourInstructions are clear, and install is straight forward. 60 Amp breaker recommended but not absolutely required. Unless your protected home equipment survives a lightning strike or you have monitoring equipment it is difficult know if or when a surge suppressor has successfully performed its function. Only time will tell.

> 24 hourIt looks well made and easy to install. took me 15 min. You should buy the proper circuit breaker for best results. The wall plate that is sold separately is way overpriced. I made my own out of sheet metal.

> 24 hourI installed one of these on my home panel after the previous home owner told me they lost an HVAC unit to a lightning strike. We have incredibly intense lightning storms on the Chesapeake Bay. Years later, during a storm, a limb fell on the drop to our home, it broke only the neutral, creating a dropped neutral scenario, which caused the voltage on the 120 legs to rise considerably. I happened to be home and near the panel, which is in the kitchen, the kitchen lights got very bright, and I heard arcing in the panel, I quickly shut the main. The device did its job, very little damage (one radio and a few local surge suppressors). The Eaton device was destroyed because this was a continuous rather than momentary surge, but it worked. I replaced it.

> 24 hourEasy to install, I just kind of left it sitting on the wires inside the breaker box, you dont need to go to town to mount it. Just keep the wires as short as possible for greatest protection.
