Had my house wired for Cat6 Gig-E and threw this in the entertainment center to provide hard-wired connections for the 4k TV and a few game consoles/devices -- it works perfectly. Ive had another one of these in my office for 2 years and it has worked without reboot or issue the entire time. Ive been through enough Netgears in my life to know that equipment is not for me. Also had crap luck with Amped Wireless over a long period of time (1+ year plus) -- the Linksys and Asus equipment has lasted for me so far and this piece of hardware is no different. The ONLY thing I wish this had/did was different color LEDs when there was a 1Gbit connection vs 100mbps or lower. Some other switches do this and I like it, but as long as this works smoothly and gives me great speed, I can live without the color change. Its just a nerdy sense of satisfaction item for me.

This switch works perfectly. I get all of my bandwidth from my ISP, which is >150 Mbps/20 Mbps. I have this running to a SlingBox, a gaming PC, and an Arlo security system in my theater/extra room. I did some homework first, and realized the newer/current version of this switch has the ports in the back, which is what I wanted. The picture the seller is showing is for the old version. I was hoping for the newer version to arrive, and it did.

Easy installation, appear to give me the speed my ISP is providing. The design would be fine in a full blown network room at the office as you may want to easily patch lines to another switch. Not a good design for home use. If they had to put the light in the back where I cant see them they should have also put the power jack in the rear as well.

Easy install. I bought to use my VPN hardwired to router. I was dropping often when on WiFi. Much better connectivity for my VPN.

The switch works great. I get my full internet speed without any issues. (This is with multiple devices connected to the switch.) I am able to do file transfers from my workstation to my Ubuntu server running a samba share at full gigabit speed with no issues. I bought this as an extension to my network since my 10 gigabit switch had all its ports filled and connected this to devices that dont need anywhere near a 10 gig link to my servers. Up time is great I havent had to reboot it since it was installed 4 months ago. While I wish it had a management console like my Cisco gear this is a home grade switch and at this price point It makes sense that its plug and play and thats it. (This means vlans and other switching features on the switch are out of the question.) Its also metal and feels pretty well built.

Its a switch, so what else can you expect? The original photo when I purchased this indicated the ports were on the rear of the unit, which is what I wanted. What I received was not what I expected. When I came back to the site, the photo had changed to the unit I actually received. While it does work (its an unmanaged switch - do you really expect much?), I would have rather preferred the ports to be on the rear as it would have fit my desk setup better.

I was a big fan of Linsys gear until they were absorbed by Cisco. I ended up trashing everything but some 8 port hubs that were really good. I updated my routers (Linksys that work very well but have their own design issues) and wanted to update my hubs as well. I have both 5 port and 8 port versions. These are metal which makes them feel more substantial somehow. Linksys made the connection lights different colors to reflect port connection speed... a nice touch. If i could see the lights, that is. They are also wall mount which is a must for me. But the Cisco thinking shows up in the implementation. The unit cant decide if it is a consumer or business product. For starters, the power connection is opposite the ports. Well, ok. Now I had to decide if i reroute some of my cables or the power connections. Would have been an easy choice but the DC plug is not a right angle... its straight which means it sticks out and will be in the way. I decided to forgo looking at the status lights so I didnt have to do gymnastics with my cables and mounted it in a way that something probably wont snag the power connection and kill the ports. Would be nice if Linksys included a template... Next the power block has the prongs inline with the long side. Um, kinda blocks multiple outlets unless you are using a power strip with the outlets turned 90 degrees. Or you happen to have an outlet at the end of your surge protector. Not well though out. I ended up getting some short ext cords. All in all a decent little unit. But it has some (in my opinion) serious design/usability deficiencies.

Great little switch. Now that we are dealing with Covid-19, I found myself and family working from home. I ran some Ethernet since WiFi was not getting me the speeds that I needed for conference calls and VPN connections. I used this switch in the system and it works great. In the evenings my boys use it when gaming as there is only one shared Ethernet wire at that location. Neither have complained about any speed issues or loss in mindless gaming ability. The drool is still trickling out the sides of their mouths, so I guess its treating them well.

These days, any 100/1000 switch will get the job done. This particular one is priced double than most competitors, but why? Honestly, I dont know but I prefer Linksys over other brands so I ponied up and burnt some extra money on the name / color. What can I say, it works. It is missing some crucial features, such as the ability to identify if a device is connected at 100 or 1000. Then again, it is a plug & play cheap home emergency solution. If any of my friends were to ask if I would recommend it, I would point them to a cheaper alternative that does the same thing or more, but for me I just prefer sticking with Linksys as I like to believe they learned something from Cisco many years ago.

I spent a little more for quality and this product delivers. My network boots up quick upon restart. Usually these switches are the last thing to finish booting. I picked this style of switch for a reason. I need the lights on front and cables in back so I can see if there is information flowing to my tv components. No ugly cables showing on my sleek tv setup. The little tiny led lights that flash when data flows are not obtrusive and dont distract me when Im watching my screen. Rubber feet keep it in one spot on the top of my cabinet.
