Sheath could be better but exactly what I was looking for as a beginner survival/bush craft knife. Several months have passed and I still use it every chance I get

This is my second Morakniv and it did not disappoint. Comes super sharp out of the box with a sharp 90 grind on the back of the blade. The blade itself seemed gimmicky to me until I tried it, the dual grind is perfect for allowing the knife to perform heavy cutting and detailed or delicate tasks like carving and cooking. I used this knife to prepare beef stak for kebabs and it cut like a high quality kitchen knife. The handle is very grippy, the knife has never slipped in my hand and it is comfortable to hold in a push or pull to cut position. The sheath is well designed and holds the knife very securely in place. I can turn it upside down and shake it and the knife will not fall out. The leather strap which secures it to your belt is also well made and secure. The ferrocium rod clips on securely and itself is well made. The knife also comes with a small bit of reflective cordage which I simply wrapped around the sheath. The bright orange color is great and easy to find if you drop the knife or sheath. This is a supoer knife from the folks at Mora and has become my preferred bushcraft knife. Five big stars and a highly recommend from me.

I love Mora knives, most however only fit one way in the sheath. Us leftys have to wear and draw the knife backwards - common with many fixed blade knives. This Mora fits in the sheath either way so you can wear it correctly on your left side. The blade has a dual grind. The back half works well for heavy carving, and the front half works well for slicing (including food prep). It is sharp right out of the box. The sheath is plastic with a leather loop to wear it on your belt. The knife spine is a true 90* so it works as a striker for any ferrocerium rod. The handle is composite plastic (2 types) which fits the hand well and gives good grip. I use this knife several times a week and it always does what I ask of it. For the price point it may be the best knife on the market. If you dont expect it to split oak trees in half, you can hardly go wrong with this knife.

This is a review of the Morakniv Kansbol w/ Survival Fixed Blade Knife I have been looking for a good quality fixed blade/survival knife; they’re really useful when we go camping. I have heard about Morankiv and wanted to give this a try. I am happy to say we like it a lot. The knife sheath itself looks a little on the cheap side, but don’t let that fool you. This is a very sharp and very sturdy-feeling knife. It’s got some heft but not too much. The grip is fantastic which is very important, obviously. The other big plus is that the knife comes with a locking mechanism on the sheath so you don’t have to worry about your kids (or yourself) accidentally having it slip out. Overall, I am quite impressed. Recommended; a quality knife at a reasonable cost.

Ive had this knife for about six months. I use this knife for just about everything in the kitchen. It stays sharp and the grip is great for wet hands. When its time to take a camping trip, I grab this knife and it goes into the pack. The provided sheath is great and offers drain holes so that you dont retain water in it. Well made and the blade keeps an edge well.

Great knife! I have several different Mora knives of varying sizes and builds. This one rivals the heavy duty version of the Companion for heft and use. The 90° spine is a plus, as is the small ferro rod included. Theres also a diamond sharpening strip, but Ill never use that except for chipped edge repair as its way too coarse to maintain the fine edge this comes with. Ill stick with whetstones and stropping, thanks. Seems like a gimmick rather than practical. The dual grind is interesting and functional for finer work near the tip. While I prefer carbon steel for bushcraft, this one has the stainless blade. Its JUST a hair thinner than I like for serious crafting like batonning, but is still robust enough for that - could be just a little thicker, especially when using the more brittle stainless. This ones going in my hiking pack.
