> 3 dayGame Freak needed to release a new Pokemon game to reinvigorate the series, and Pokemon Moon is that game. Ive been fan since the beginning so I was a little skeptical about the change up from gym leaders to island hoping, but the experience is still 100% Pokemon adventure. The graphics a step in the right direction with fully a animated protagonists and NPCs as opposed the classic big headed sprites of previous games. Keeping with clothing customization from Pokemon X/Y was a smart move as well, especially now that you can see the details much more. I can keep describing how great it is but you really need to experience it for yourself. Again, its not your typical 8 gym, catch legendary, then fight the elite four adventure, but it is definitely worth your time.

> 3 dayI have not been a fan of any of the Pokémon games that came out after platinum but this one is really great. THE GOOD: The whole world is in a 3D view instead of a top down or mixed viewpoint. I think they did a really good job of implementing it because I hated it in xy. One of the things I hated about xy was all the new stupid Pokémon and the abscense of the original 150. However in this game the original Pokémon are abundant and I think they did a great job refreshing some of them with the aloa special looks. Having to complete challenges instead of gym matches is a refreshing mix up, and still decently challenging I never liked mega evolution. It just felt forced, and a little over powered. It really takes no place in this game and instead you get to use z powers which are a once per battle powerful attack of one specific type. I think this was a nice addition to the game, but still a little over powered THE BAD: I am playing on a new 3ds xl and have not had any issues but some of my friends with a regular 3ds xl have said that the game lags a bit in some of the bigger battles. Team skull is pretty cringey in the way they talk and try to act gangster. They dont really feel evil to me and just seem like a minor nuisance There are four islands and the entire first island is really just a giant tutorial All of the avatars are super feminine. As a guy I would prefer if I could make a guy that looked at least somewhat like a guy You dont really have a rival, your opponent chooses the starter weak to yours and is never really any trouble to defeat

> 3 daySince I received my game I have developed the habit of not being able to stop when I play. At first I did not think that Pokémon Sun and Moon were going to be as good as Pokemon X and Y due to the changes. However, I was completely wrong because Im enjoying completing the trials and the story, some of the changes were a good thing because defeating eight gym leaders and facing the elite four was starting to get repetitive even though the plots of each Pokemon game was different. More importantly, hidden machines were taking up slots, so Im glad that they got rid of this option and have use pokemons to fil those hidden machine requirements instead.

Greater than one weekPokemon Moon brings a refreshing take on the Pokemon series. You still are tasked to catch em all, but there are significant changes to keep the series, now 20 years old, still appealing to gamers. Yes, you still have to pick from three starter Pokemon that are either Grass, Fire, or Water, but the interesting tweak comes from the final forms. The Grass Starter Rowlet eventually gains a Ghost typing and the Water Starter Popplio gets a Fairy typing. While weve seen a Dark type added to Greninja in X & Y, the Fire starter Litten gains the Dark type. Yes, there are new Pokemon in the region, but I have no complaints about the design of them since I feel like most are organic fits to the tropical feel of the Alola region. I like the twist of adding alternate forms of classic Pokemon further defining the idea of evolution in different regions. I appreciate the tweaks made to replace the traditional Gyms. There is an organic feel to the Island Challenges and these little tweaks keep the formula fresh. The controls are pretty much the same, though there is free directional-controls that the other versions lacked. Again, everything felt familiar as long as you played any Nintendo DS (Fourth Generation) or newer generation of Pokemon. Personally, if you only played Red & Blue, and was inspired by Pokemon Go to play this, Im convinced that you would still pick up the mechanics pretty easily. Its been mentioned but I will reiterate: If you are using an original 3DS or a 2DS like I do, there is a slowdown between picking an attack and the attack animation if you are either in a multi-Pokemon battle (for example a double battle or if a wild Pokemon calls for help). To me, this doesnt affect the game at all, but it does show that Sun/Moon is pushing the 3DS to its graphical limits. I honestly thought that the game was being extra dramatic, not that the game was loading in the background. All in all, the thing that Pokemon Sun & Moon has that previous versions lacked (or lost) was heart. There is a level of investment you have with the characters that you want to learn more. Your rival is very laid back; even your mother feels more intrigued by her child growing up than previous mothers. I wanted to keep playing, journey through every island, talk to every person, become a Pokemon master with the squad that I customized to my liking.

> 3 dayIm gonna get some hate for this... I got this game recently and the last one I had played was Y and I LOVE that game. It was a big grand adventure and it had a lot going for it. This feels like theyre trying to do the same thing but something was irking me about it. It feels like less an adventure and more that youre at camp. You have camp counselors wholl open up paths after you do your trial/activity and proceed to the next challenge. The main female main characters eyes are big and soulless which really isnt helped by the way she reacts to things, or doesnt more accurately. Thats the thing, everyone expresses so well in this game, all the NPCs are rendered really well and nicely but then theres your souless self just standing there :) going for the ride. Never expressing herself, which maybe wouldnt be so bad if everyone else wasnt so expressive. Team Skull is probably the most amusing of the teams Ive seen in my Pokemon run (Red/Blue, Silver, Y) and the supporting characters with you are a bit ...weird to me. Maybe Im just missing something with them. But every cutscene with them felt the same after a while. Get in the bag and Im not mad that I lost for the 10th time. I like characters and their plots more than anything in RPGs, it can even make up for a bad story but Im just finding this adventure to be way more toned back and lacking in the adventure part and I just cant get on with it. It feels like Im being treated like a child while in previous adventures they treated you like you were rapidly earning respect. That you were of age and went out to do what you wanted vs a guided tour. The gameplay also feels slow, with the effects turned on in battle theres so many redundant things being done, even in the field even with the text at MAX speed. You found a berry! You got a berry! Wait, theres more here you found another berry! Theres separate text boxes for each of these, every time, and its the theme of the game, wasting your time with redundant, obvious text every step of the way. Only made worse by unskippable jingles every time. Im playing 7th Dragon 3 Code VFD and everything is fast and snappy. Hit a guy, hes confused, they have an effect and a short text blurb that flies on screen to tell you whats going on if the effect wasnt apparent, all effects are listed so they dont have to remind you EVERY TURN. The game is so slow and its all things that other RPGs understood how to speed up ages ago so I can only assume they did this to pad the game out and it just isnt for me. Its just burnt me out real fast and Im sorry to say Im selling this game. Its such a shame, the game looks great, characters express themselves like youd see in Mega Man Legends, youve never had such a great view into the pokemon games. But theres so many things gone wrong in the game for me I just cant stick it out. I swear Pokemon Y wasnt this tedious...Yes Im sure it dragged its feet in some ways but I dont remember it being this tedious.

> 3 dayLOVE this game. Ive been playing Pokémon off and on since Crystal. I really got back into after a friend bought me Alpha Sapphire. I played AS all the way through, but only partially played through X and White 1. I was excited for the new structure of Sun/Moon, so I got myself Moon and my brother Sun. Ive always just played casually, but my brother only did Nuzlocke runs for the challenge. Both of us have played this game traditionally, and still found it challenging and fun! The new trials are fun, and the ability of wild Pokemon to call for help is both infuriating and fun. Ride Pokémon take away the need for an HM slave, finally. Overall, great game for casual players and experienced gamers alike. :)

> 3 dayI started playing Pokemon when I first picked up Red and Blue as a kid. I played every game, but Black(2) and White(2), and I have to say, that Sun and Moon are by far the best in the series to me. People complain about the hand-holding in this generation but truthfully, as a long-time fan, I love it. I love the fact that the attack menus during battles show me exactly what attacks are effective without having to memorize all the type matchups. I love that I can see just how deduffed my Pokemon are, and from what, during battle. I love my Rotom-Dex telling me where to go, rather than putting the game down for a couple weeks then getting completely lost when I come back. The lack of gyms is fantastic; having trials throughout the journey feels incredibly natural. Theyre part of the flow as you travel across Alola. The story is actually interesting and involved, rather than an afterthought like in most of the previous games. Some of the Alolan Pokemon may seem odd at first, but they all have a certain charm that reels you in. Poke Pelagos islands are an interesting way to get money, evolution items, and beans to feed your Pokemon. The Festival Plaza is fun because its not just a trading hub, but minigames as well. Trainer customization is at an all-time high... I can go on and on about everything I love about this generation. The gist is, I feel like Sun and Moon are fantastic for both new players and old fans alike. You can play just to complete the story, or you can Wondertrade/battle online. You can head to the Battle Tree, or breed Pokemon and shiny hunt. If youre new to the series, this is where to start. Sun and Moon will get you up to speed on everything you need to know, so you can go back to the older generations and be a pro trainer. If youre an longtime player, these games get rid of a lot of headache that the previous ones had. Quality of life is much, much better.

> 3 dayTotally agree with the other 5 star-reviews. Incredible that this game runs on the same hardware like XY and OrAs. Graphics is awesome and I really like that the music is more atmospheric (reminds me of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon sometimes, really like it). I play the Pokémon series since the beginning and this game was really refreshing. They tried something new and it was nice. Althought Im more the competitive player who always spend a lot of time to breed and train in the postgame, Ive really enjoyed the story. One of the biggest improvements: The apricorn balls are back (and they gave a us the Beastballs)! Okay, its really sad that they just gave us one of each per game, but male Pokémon of same species and genderless Pokémon can inherit they ball on their offsprings too now. I may sound like a total nerd, but for me, this is awesome. People who have balltism too can relate to that. I really like to breed/catch my Pokémon in a ball that matches their design/color. Ive created a facebook group where people can trade they special breedjects: check it out and help to spread the balltism -> Pokemon Balltism-Exchange!

> 3 dayim on the second island so this will be a bit incomplete the new pokemon designs and animations are fairly good. the new improvements are either good or bad the hand-holding in the game is a lot more noticeable and would help newcomers jump in or annoy people looking for the least bit of a challenge. i just dont see the reason for a destination point in the game. the camera is a lot better than x/y however there is no 3d feature and i would have liked to be able to move the camera at times as well. the new pokemon gang team is fairly good the animations giving to them are funny and give them a sense of being. all i got so far may add to this.
