ROXIO EASY CD & DVD

Updated Review on newer version (deleted older one) As far as I know, the latest (and probably last) version of Roxio Easy CD & DVD was Version 14.0.49.2. The version number is absent from product pages as to what version is now available which is very misleading. Even the Roxio forums are no help. Ive used Version 14 on Windows 7 and 8.1, the latter Im still using. I tried Windows 10, but promptly got rid of it when some of my programs would not run so I dont know if it worked in that version of Windows. I only use Roxio for backing up files even though it also has other programs for making music and video discs. For me it is enough. The only problem I have had is that theres a file in Roxio that interferes with a file in my Legacy Family Tree software so I get a prompt to install Roxio. This might be an incompatibility issue with Roxio because I dont have that problem with other software however it still performs backups without any issues. Im updating my grading of this version and not any of the previous versions. It was only about $20 so I couldnt expect anything more. If you want something to duplicate copyrighted material then youre looking in the wrong place.

Bought this for my wife to burn non-copy protected DVDs. It was easy to use with just a couple of button clicks. Note that the instructions and help menus arent helpful. As another review noted, the instructions say to click on menu items that dont exist. The only problem that I ran into initially is after the burner reads the DVD, it will pop out the DVD, say it is done reading, and then hang. I had the main window open on my laptop and the main window would become unresponsive and wouldnt even minimize down. What was happening was a diaglog box opens after it is done reading the DVD and it would hide behind the main window where I couldnt get to it since I couldnt minimize the main window. You have to minimize the main window after starting the DVD read. This way the dialog box is in view after reading the DVD. The dialog box asks you to press the button after inserting the black DVD. After I figured this out, I didnt run into anymore issues and it copies DVDs just fine.

I bought this software cheap ($10) after an instant rebate and mail-in rebate (that should have been a tip off) from a major big-box office retailer. I am running XP Service Pack 3 on a custom built computer with plenty of ability to run such a package. Right now I have Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 installed and it works fine copying, burning and making libraries and projects with CDs and DVDs. I have been happy with this version. However, because its 6 years old, I decided to try a newer Roxio product because I plan to upgrade to Win 7 and thought a newer package would be compatible with the new Windows. My purchase was a big mistake. I am a fairly experienced computer user 20+ years, so I should have known better. Basically, as in most things, you get what you pay for, so the low price should have been a warning. It turns out that this is 3-year old software (2007) and its slow. Yes, I got it to install OK and it removed my Roxio 7 and it was able to use it to copy a CD. However, it has a clunky interface and, in my opinion, is worse than the older product it sort of replaced. Fortunately, I have Rollback 8.0 on my machine (a great 5-star program by the way - its saved me numerous times) and was able to go back to a previous time and got rid of this Roxio product. Now it goes in the trash. After reading reviews of the latest Roxio products, I am going to stay away from all of them.

I like this. It is easy to use. We frequently make everything on the old computer and it was refreshing not to have to go through a big, long, unnecessary activation process.

Wont even detect an mp4 on your system. Cant burn MKV. Seems to only work with WMV and even then the quality sucks. Dont waste your money on this junk. If I could give a negative star rating it would be -4.

This product stinks. I have used several Roxio products and found that after they were aparently bought out, all product keys were dumped from their server in an attempt to make you purchase again, in otherword, legacy product, no support. A friend of mine gave me this unopened sofware and it is not XP friendly, I finally got it to work. I have home movies (DVD) on my hard drive and like to never have found why my hard drive was not accessibe by this software. In earier versions, the Roxio Disc Copier worked great but this one works different. You have to put a DVD in your burner and it will automatically bring up a disc Icon on your desktop. All you have to do then is drag the files over to the icon. There is a little flame next to the icon, click it to start to burn. I have done two home movies so far and they seem to work but I am not impressed. Like I said previously, after Roxio was bought by another company, everything went to crap. I will buy Nero from now on. I am tired of this.

I really like the Roxio Easy CD & DVD program. It is great and easy to do when I need it. My sister told me about Roxio when I was in Iowa. When I got back to CA.I ordered it. So glad I did.

10/29 - got as far as crash. Tried again 10/30 and product key totally rejected. Does anybody ever succeed with Roxio Easy CD/DVD Burner?

I FIND THAT NEITHER OF THE TWO DISCS WHICH I PURCHASED DOES THE JOB AS WELL AS MY OLD ROXIO BASIC, WHICH WAS LOST IN A COMPUTER CLEANUP SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. HAVING MISPLACED THE DISC, I ORDERED VERSION 10 WHICH DOES NOT WORK WITH MY COOL EDIT PRO, SO ORDERED THE ROXIO VERSION 5 AND GOT THE #5 PRO (NOT BASIC) WHICH LOOKS TOTALLY DIFFERENT AND DOES NOT WORK AS EASY AS THE OLD BASIC VERSIION. AFTER MANY HOURS OF TRYING TO DRAG MUSIC INTO THE BURNER FROM MY COOL EDIT PRO, AND TRYING TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS, I HAVE GIVEN UP, BUT HAVE NOT BOUGHT ANOTHER BURNER YET. BUT I HAVE MUCH MUSIC WAITING TO BURN FOR MY WEBSITE MUSIC LINE (YOSEMITERADIO.COM) IAM ONLY INTERESTED IN MUSIC, NOT VIDEOS. THE MUSIC WAITING IS FROM OLDER VINYL WHICH I CLEAN UP AND USE ON THE WEB SHOW. THIS IS NOT A FAULT OF AMAZON. I AM JUST LOOKING FOR THE ROXIO BASIC 5.
