ROXIO EASY CD & DVD

> 3 dayThis product stinks. I have used several Roxio products and found that after they were aparently bought out, all product keys were dumped from their server in an attempt to make you purchase again, in otherword, legacy product, no support. A friend of mine gave me this unopened sofware and it is not XP friendly, I finally got it to work. I have home movies (DVD) on my hard drive and like to never have found why my hard drive was not accessibe by this software. In earier versions, the Roxio Disc Copier worked great but this one works different. You have to put a DVD in your burner and it will automatically bring up a disc Icon on your desktop. All you have to do then is drag the files over to the icon. There is a little flame next to the icon, click it to start to burn. I have done two home movies so far and they seem to work but I am not impressed. Like I said previously, after Roxio was bought by another company, everything went to crap. I will buy Nero from now on. I am tired of this.

Greater than one weekCorel has done to Roxio CD burning programs exactly what it did to Jasc Paint Shop Pro, which is to say ruined the whole shebang. Just as I went back to Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 after having tried Corels horrible Paint Shop Pro X, Im going back to Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum, which does work with Windows XP and reliably turns out a quality CD. This new waste of time and money is NOT backward compatible -- you cant even read open CDs created in REAL Roxio programs. The system requirements for authoring DVDs are much higher than those listed for merely installing the program. (Ill go back to Nero Essentials for DVDs.) I would not have purchased the program at all had I known that in advance. Although Corel claims it works under Windows XP, it is slow to install, balky in use, and not particularly capable when it does work. Roxio easy CD & DVD burning is a huge disappointment, and in my opinion, not worth the money.

> 3 dayI often read product reviews but until now Ive never written one myself. This pathetic excuse for software has finally given me the inspiration to do so. These guys did a really bad job of testing their software before releasing it. Its obviously not ready. After installing it the first time, I did manage to make two CDs but that was after two failures and one of the CDs that it did make caused my system (and my wifes) to crash. I never did get the Creator Classic to work. It gave me a failed API message whenever I tried to run it. I took Roxios advice and reinstalled the SW, but that didnt work. I went to Roxios website but there is no mention of this SW. There were some support solutions that were posted for their other SW so I tried those, but they didnt help. I downloaded a utility to see what was going on in my computer when I tried to run Creator Classic. The problem was the SW couldnt find a couple of files that should have been placed in one of the Roxio subdirectories by the installation program. Thinking that my anti-virus SW was messing up the installation, I reinstalled it again with my AV stuff turned off. The result was Creator Classic didnt give me the failed API message but it would immediately terminate itself. Perhaps the SW would install right if I had done a custom installation, but Im not going to waste any more of my time on this peice of junk. I just wish I had read some of the other reviews before buying this product from a store.

> 3 dayTook a chance on this product, not many music programs left these days. The cd ripping and burner seemed to work ok, but everything else in the box had a 2 week warranty on it, meaning it was no good after 2 weeks as all the programs were trial issue. The only thing of value for the $32 I spent was the burner/copier. I would not recommend buying this facade, as it is just advertising to get you to buy more of whats inside. Scammed again.

> 3 dayI had another CD copying program on my computer but this one has proven to be much simpler and easier and faster to use.

> 3 dayWent through the process of installing it, and upon completion it automatically told me there was an error. Uninstalled and reinstalled it again with the same results. Looked for a contact number and can only communicate through email. Sent an email and waited for a response. Gave me a process to go through and the same results. Each email takes about a day to get a response. Could not get anyone on the phone to try and fix the issue which I understand is a common problem with their product. Never was able to get a solution. Threw it in the trash.

> 3 dayI bought this because I had success with Roxio products in the past. This would have to be a lot better to rise to the level of junk. It is total garbage. Dont buy!!!

> 3 dayI bought this product (the current version shipping is 9, by the way), and, with one snafu, have had excellent success using it as a substitute for native Vista burning (which is famously unworkable) or Windows Media Player (which works, but is painfully slow). There are several unfair accusations in all these reviews which I feel need to be corrected. Yes, Roxio has support, with thousands of items in their Knowledge Base about the product. Support includes a fix for the initial incompability with the Vista driver environment, which is very simple and does not require Registry editing, at the following url: [...] While the above is simple, it is necessary in order to get the product working in Vista. The good news, aside from whats already been mentioned, is that, not only is the interface simple and unbloated, yet full featured, but it burns and rips lightning fast, even under Vista, which is a real trick- about twice as fast as Windows Media Player. The alternatives are Nero (which is now horrendously overfattened), various Shareware and cheapy alternatives, or Roxio 2009, much more expensive and again bloated. I recommend this cheap but powerful tool.
