The Beatles - The Beatles white album - Capitol Records - SWBO 101 VG+/VG

The box set itself and musical content is immense, cannot fault it.

I had a bit of trouble with this Apple re-issue: although it was new, there are flaws in th vinyl which caused it to skip. After carefully cleaning the record, the problem was taken care of.

At this point I can’t really add anything.....the session takes are wonderful, the 5.1 mix is amazing (and when after 50 years of listening you hear new bits on almost every song it’s just too fab for words), and the Esher demos sound great after only having bootlegs and a few from the Anthology. This and Revolver are my faves (yes Pepper is an earth-shaking work of art, but, well, sorry, it’s 3rd for me), and this and the 4 lp box are well worth the money. Giles Martin has done a fantastic job. Buy it and smile, it’s the gear.

It’s the bloody Beatles white album...

It is perfect. My grandson loves the Beatles and this is the album he wanted.

So much more clarity and depth in this remixed sound. Not that I needed any additional evidence, but wow, are these guys good.

I dont know what I can say that others have said but this set is well worth the asking money just for the blu ray 5.1 version!!!! As he did with the Sgt Pepper box version Giles has made an excellent job, like his father before him, hes a master producer with the available technology. I cant see this being bettered, certainly not in my lifetime, what the future hold I dont know but the sound for me is perfect!!! The CDs are comprehensive especially with it containing Revolution take 18 which some had never heard until now, the Esher demos have needed the Martin treatment as only flat versions were available, now they are fantastic. An absolute triumph on Giles Martins part, may he go on to do more excellent work with the rest of the Beatles masters!!!!!!!

Il celeberrimo White Album esce nel cinquantenario con un remix fi straordinaria purezza e bellezza del suono. Le chitarre emanano un suono soave come in Dear Prudence o Blackbird, la batteria ed il basso sono maggiormente valorizzati come in Glass Onion e Helter Skelter. Lassolo di Clapton nella splendida While my guitar raggiunge sonorità quasi nuove. La stessa Obladi Oblada è più limpida. Insomma un gran lavoro dei team di tecnici che merita il plauso degli appassionati. Unico neo limballaggio di Amazon non idoneo a proteggere completamente il libro che aveva i bordi un po piegati.

Its impossible to convey the impact this album had when it came out. I remember where I was when I first heard it. EVERYONE had a copy. The thought at the time was that it was The Beatles version of what an acid trip should be (It starts with a jet plane taking off and ends with a lullaby). Its odd to think that so much time has passed. More than anything else this captures a time and a place. It is, of course, fascinating to hear the progression of each number and how it evolved over time. As with the companion set of SGT PEPPERS this box set of the white album is a must for those that remember where they were and how old they were when the white album first appeared.
