> 3 dayThis is a review for a drive that was purchased from Amazon and fulfilled by Amazon. I received a new drive in new (sealed) packaging. It was exactly as expected. I was able to verify the 5-year warranty with Western Digital and register in online. I have installed it in my system and it is working correctly so far. Should that change, I will update this review. I cant speak for other sellers in the marketplace, but as I stated... I got from Amazon exactly what I ordered.

> 3 dayI use two of these Western Digital 16TB WD Red Pro NAS hard drives in RAID 1 configuration as a backup for my most important work files. I know that if one of the two drives should fail, I can simply replace it in the RAID set and keep going while it repairs itself. The Reds are built tough for industrial, commercial, Network Server purposes which makes them more reliable than average. Not a fast drive for gamers, its a more reliable drive for important data.

> 3 dayUsed this to replace a failed drive in my NAS. Installed smoothly, and its storing information. The most important feature of any hard drive by *far* is longevity, and I wont know that for quite a while. But initial impression is it works just fine.

Greater than one weekI recommend to buy this. Do not see the negative comments, few might have issues and few people dont know how to use it. It is silent and functions very smooth

> 3 dayI use a good handful of these drives in a few different NAS units. They infrequently fail and are reliably running 24/7/365. I started with 6tb drives. If I were starting fresh I would probably use slightly larger drives. I don’t know if the larger drives are less reliable or the same, but I have been very satisfied. Never forget that RAID is not the same as a backup and you will never lose a byte.

> 3 dayno instruction, no warranty papers, etc. now I am not sure if that item is new or a returned repackage item. I have not decided to keep it or return it . I have never received an electronic/computer part or device that did not contain those documents. Also no instructions on how and where to register the HDD. I will update this when and if I decide to keep or return it.

> 3 dayI’m using this drive in an enclosure for backups. I chose this instead of a WD Blue or WD External drive because WD Red has better long term reliability. WD Reds are noisier than Blues, so I wouldn’t recommend using them in a room where silence is important. If buying multiple drives, be sure that the drives are from different lots / manufacture dates. That way if there is an unknown manufacturing flaw in one lot, you’re not putting your data on two+ drives of the same lot.
