14-06-2025We purchased this monitor after our previous monitor by Summer Infant was discontinued so we weren’t able to get a second camera to hook up to it, so we took advantage of the opportunity to try out a new brand! The good reviews and personal recommendations encouraged us to go with this monitor, and having used it for a while I thought I’d leave a quick review. Pros: Battery life is pretty good It’s nice to be able to turn off the beep for when the battery is low or you go out of range It has the temperature of the room, which is GREAT, our last one didn’t have that It has an icon to show when the talk button is being pressed and the camera end is able to hear you (another feature I like that our last one didn’t have) It has most of the features I expect (2 way communication, video screen, ability to turn on and off the screen to save battery, night vision) Cons: Image is not the most amazing for nighttime use, it’s still a little grainy (our last monitor was the same if not a little better) The image is choppy, especially at night. It doesn’t flow smoothly like a video ought to, instead it is like a bunch of pictures stitched together quickly (our last monitor was way better in this respect) I wish you could adjust the volume on the monitor elsewhere rather than going into the menu each time The kickstand is a little flimsy and it falls over by itself a lot When you turn the screen on it flashes the last image it showed, then updates to the current image. It makes it look like my kid is moving when he’s been still for who knows how long! I miss the charging station of our last monitor, you could just plop it on the station to charge instead of having to plug it in and keep track of the plug and make sure it doesn’t fall off the back of your nightstand when you unplug it for a minute… It was a really nice feature! It would be nice to see the percentage of battery left rather than just estimate based on the battery image looking less or more full Unsure: Range – our friends tell us the range is amazing on their unit, but we’ve had it break up a couple times within our small house (though we think there is lead paint in the walls or something else to prevent it from working 100%. Our last monitor worked about the same) I’m not sure what the antenna does, if it actually helps anything or is just in the way. We haven’t tried or needed the second lens yet, maybe with the baby it will be more helpful since he doesn’t move all around the crib like the older kid does I haven’t figured out what the short cut button is for, and why they dedicated so much space to it Overall a pretty good monitor, and I think

The Customer
> 3 dayThe camera and monitor are easy to setup and use, and they work very well keeping an eye on things. I had a technical issue as well and had to call email customer support, and they were amazing with quick, friendly responses, but best of all, doing great work helping resolve my issue, so everything is good now. Definitely I recommend the camera and monitor because of the product quality and customer service!

> 3 dayWe have two cameras and one monitor. Weve been using them for about two months. Pros: - You can remotely move the camera. Great especially for toddlers who move around. Also you can mount the camera once and never have to touch it again, its always in the right place! - Good sound and picture quality. (Note there is no white noise deduction, though this doesnt bother me as much as I thought it would.) - Battery and transmission distance good. Although it seems like the battery will go from four bars to one really fast, it lasts for a while. - When you talk through the monitor the sound is clear. - You can zoom remotely. - Works well with multiple cameras, although no split screen you can set it to scan (switch views every 10 seconds). - Eady to use and great customer service! Cons: - There is no charging dock. Therefore it is easily to bend/damage the charging cable. Youll have to buy another. Also the plug is on the left side so depending which way you set it the cable can get in the way. - The low battery/no signal beep is annoyingly loud and you cant adjust it. There is no loud noise alert beep you just have to listen for crying. - The wide angle lens is great for viewing the entire room but the night vision quality with this lens is pretty bad. Night vision is fine with the other lenses.

> 3 dayWe have used the Infant Optics DXR-8 for over 2 years. The image is great, including in darkness. We started having trouble with the monitor holding a charge a few months after using it. Then the monitor was making clicking sounds. After contacting customer support, they were able to walk me through readjusting the monitor battery. Since then, the monitor has held a charge fine. Also, after much support, it was determined that my camera was the source of the clicking that we were hearing from the monitor. Customer support was great! Even though I was about 2 years past my warranty, they replaced my camera, so it is no longer making the clicking sound. They went the extra mile to keep me as a customer, and I greatly appreciated that level of care.

Greater than one weekMy toddler and baby share a room and I am really happy that this monitor can scan from left to right and up and down with the normal lens enough that I can keep an eye on both of them at night. I did buy a separate wide angle lens but haven’t needed it so far because of the great viewing options with the normal lens! Very happy the wide angle lens is an option though as we can use it to monitor them playing in the play room with an add-on camera. Also, we are having another baby soon and I am glad we can add another camera for baby’s room while still using the same parent unit. Very practical. I do like that the cameras can do temperature readings for each room since the big kids’ room and baby’s room will likely feel different at certain times of day/night. Overall, it’s a very functional way us to keep an eye on all 3 of our “littles” wherever they are in the house. Very excited about this new monitor!

Greater than one weekI have been very satisfied with my infant optics monitor and camera, as well as the add on camera. I love that the cameras move to see the entire room, and that you can use multiple cameras on the same monitor. I have not seen an equivalent product with a similar price point. I recently had a sudden issue with my monitor (after having no issues for almost 2 years) and received excellent and prompt customer service. Infant Optics sent me a new monitor, even though my monitor was technically outside the 1 year warranty period. I highly recommend this monitor and it’s add on cameras as a low cost monitor with a variety of desirable features.

> 3 dayWhy did I wait to buy this monitor?!? I really wanted a monitor that had it all (including WiFi capabilities) with a parent module. So because this monitor didn’t have WiFi, I went with a Motorola instead. Although the picture on the Motorola parent module was amazing, I went through three different returns before finally giving up on the MP4 model. The sound went out on one and the other two I had troubles with charging because the port was cheaply constructed. Finally, after every review basically said this monitor was the best, I bought it. Why why why was I reluctant? It really is the best! The picture is great, the sound is great, I love all the features. And I really don’t miss WiFi like I thought I would. If you are like me and really don’t want to use your phone as your parent module, this really is the best monitor!!!!
