Infant Optics DXR-8 Add-on Camera (Not Compatible with DXR-8 PRO)

Very easy to add onto my current camera and monitor set up i purchased previously for our first child in 2017. The whole system is great. The night vision is good (not super great if over 7ft away because it gets a little grainy), the sound is great (I personally keep mine running on low and plugged in all night so I can hear my toddler who is on a different level of our home) and the talk feature is awesome. I love being able to flip through the different cameras or have it just stay on one all night. Very easy to set up and use. I had an issue with my power cord and the customer service is AWESOME. They will communicate with you over the phone, chat, text or email. I chose email and had an answer within 12 hour and a resolution just as quickly. No cost replacement of my power cord and it came within 2 days. Great experience all around. Good product good company, happy customer. End of story!

I am thoroughly pleased with the infant optics dxr8 monitor I had bought after intense research for my first born in 2017. 4 years already and its working so well. I have a 7 month old now and because of separate rooms for both kids I needed an add on camera. Setup was so easy. Night vision is fine, picture quality is the same as the one I already own and switching between cameras is super easy. Overall a great purchase. Inwould recommend the product.

The camera and monitor are easy to setup and use, and they work very well keeping an eye on things. I had a technical issue as well and had to call email customer support, and they were amazing with quick, friendly responses, but best of all, doing great work helping resolve my issue, so everything is good now. Definitely I recommend the camera and monitor because of the product quality and customer service!

We ordered an additional camera for the arrival of our second child. I love Infant Optics and not only is it a great product, but their customer service is amazing. We had originally received the Infant Optics monitor and camera when expecting our first child almost three years ago. Recently the night vision on that camera started to have issues and even though we were way past the one year warranty, they went above and beyond to resolve the issue for me.

Overall a great camera monitoring system. Range was tested up to 100 yds and worked with no issues with antenna up. The temp reading seems to be a bit higher (2-4 degrees) than actual ambient room temp. Purchased an additional camera to go with the system to be able to monitor 2 rooms, the scan feature of having the cameras automatically switch between is a great feature as well is the ability to talk through the camera. The only CON that I can see is wireless devices in the area can cause a drop in signal to either the camera or the base station. But if you move the monitor or camera away from any WIFI devices a few feet seems to mitigate the issue.

I’ve had this system for 2 years now. I originally bought the camera and monitor but when my son got older and became a toddler we bought a second camera with a wide angle lens for the playroom. This system has worked great for us with little problems. I did have to replace the charger after a year as it didn’t work. But the battery itself was fine. My only complaint is that it doesn’t reach as far as it says. My sons room is upstairs on the opposite side of our 3600sq ft home from our master bedroom, and sometimes if I put my phone next to the monitor at night it will beep that it is out of range. Might just be the walls, but we also can’t walk past our neighbors house and watch either. We like to go over for a drink after bedtime to the house directly nextdoor to us (and our houses are like 10 feet apart). It works but only in certain parts of their house.

We bought our first monitor for our son two years ago. We never realized the infrared sensor was not working and therefore, the night vision was poor. We thought it was just the system, so we stuck with it in order to avoiding purchasing a whole new monitor system with a different brand. Our second son was born recently and we purchased an add-on camera. We couldn’t believe the difference in quality. We called the company and that was when we realized the sensor must have come damaged with our original camera. However, since the one year warrantee had lapsed, they could offer us a 50% discount for a replacement. Customer services was quick and responsive. We did need to buy a separate zoom lens and battery replacement (with a much longer life), as well as a wall mount. UPDATE: I absolutely HATE this monitor system. First, this company is inflating their reviews by including a message in the box for the device that asks customers to post a review in exchange for a free second camera (valued at $99 here on Amazon). We played along because we needed a second camera. I hate that I’m probably part of what has made this company so successful. My best friend just bought this monitor because of the reviews even though I continue to talk her into returning it! Ugh! The picture on this monitor is awful quality! We used to have a Summer monitor that was so much better quality. I do like the interchangeable wide angle lens (the only thing I like—which you’ll pay an extra $20 to own). I hate that the speaker for this unit is on the BACK! You have to lay it on its face to hear at night. Standing it up risks it falling over and you not being able to hear. But if you are worried about hearing your kids, you shouldn’t buy from this company at ALL! We just discovered today that if you have the monitor on scan and a camera gets unplugged, it stays on that camera (the unplugged one) and STOPS scanning. We woke up to find our baby covered in dried vomit. It was everywhere like he had been crying for us. Did we hear him? No. By strange coincidence, the monitor in my daughter’s room was unplugged. The monitor was only showing her unplugged warning screen instead of switching to my son’s room. What a terrible flaw! In the product’s defense, I had turned off the alarm feature (not understanding it). I turned the alarm back on high and recreated the scenario to find out that the unplugged monitor does create an alarm, but the camera stays on the warning screen and does stop scanning. So angry about my baby being put through all that. If you still decide to buy this piece of junk, don’t turn the alarm off ever! But seriously, find something else. I am so sorry we bought this and even sorrier that we kept it after we realized this company was scamming the Amazon reviews! INITIAL REVIEW: We purchased this monitor system over the weekend and found the set up was easy. We added on an additional camera today to try the whole thing out and it seems to work well for us so far. Pairing the new camera was simple. I like how the camera can point at a lower angle than our previous Summer monitor. Downsides are that I wish it could do split screen and automatically stay on a camera if sound is detected. I prefer that instead of scanning. Another downside is that the monitor light seemed a bit bright in our room last night. I wish there were a way to turn it down or off. Overall though, it appears to be at least as good as our old Summer monitor and probably a bit better.

We had the original monitor and camera unit and decided to purchase a second camera for our new baby. Quality is great, pairing the two cameras with the single monitor was easy. It switches back and forth between the two rooms with ease, about every ten seconds. Its worked very well for us and Im very pleased with this product for the years weve been using it. And, the icing on the cake, Infant Optics has AMAZING customer service. They are always willing to help with any concerns and are super fast to respond to any questions. I love this product and this company. Would highly recommend!
