Providing security for your bike is like anything else, there are risks and trade offs. This product provides a decent level of security while at the same its not too heavy of bulky to carry and stow away. If I were securing my bike in a high crime area I would probably opt for something more heavy duty but for most normal areas such as a college campus this locking solution will keep you bike safe. Its long enough to secure to most posts going through the frame and the front wheel although it might be tough to secure two bikes at once if you are riding with a partner that does not have a lock. The bottom line is you cant go wrong with the Master Lock 85DPF as its well made and has a really nice weather resistant coating.

This cable should only be used as a supplementary bicycle security device, especially if you live in a city. A solid U-lock should always be your primary means of securing a bike and should ideally be hooked around both the frame as well as the front wheel. Then, you can attach this cable to the U-lock, loop it through the back wheel, and then attach the other end back to the U-lock. This way, a bike thief would have to cut through the cable just to get your back wheel, and then break through the U-lock to get the front wheel or the bike frame. That much work is a very good deterrent to any would-be bike thieves.

Cable cords work but are stiff when first opened and a little hard to work with. Make sure to buy a lock that is large enough for the loop end.

Awesome security device, and a bargain. Ive used chains on my rural gate that only the largest bolt cutters could handle. But had them cut. Chains are expensive. The equivalent length of chain was costing me almost twice as much. And cable is almost impossible to cut with almost anything you can hold in your hands. An unexpected improvement over chain is the sleeve. Not only does it protect from rain, but it makes removing and replacing the chain on a metal gate a less than nerve-rattling experience. The cable is also lighter than the equivalent chain, which can be a real issue with a heavy chain of same length. Saved me a lot of cash and I dont think I will be having so many break-ins.

I bought this to add a little security to our hitch mounted cargo bag. I loop in around the whole assembly a few times and lock it in place. I wont prevent someone from stealing anything when it comes down to it, but it can slow them down enough that it is a deterrent in parking lots and rest stops when were not away from the car for long periods of time. I found the cable to be high quality and very well made.

The length of this product makes it perfect for locking up my patio furniture. The quality and price of this product also make it perfect for securing a couple of cheap chairs and a table from casual thieves.
