This converter has worked flawlessly for my various IBM model M keyboards (rubber dome 07H0665, buckling spring 42H1292). Of note: It also works with my vintage IBM mouse (P/N 28L1864). I have also successfully used it with two different Dell QuietKey keyboards. I dont know a ton about this stuff, however if your model M is a terminal board, it will probably not work (mine didnt work despite previously being modded to PS/2); thats what the Soarers converter is for.

The cable worked fine connecting a PS/2 mouse and keyboard directly to the computers USB port. However when I tried to use it with a PS/2 KVM switch connecting 2 computers it had issues. One of the computers was connected to the switch via a different manufacturers PS/2-USB converter and I connected a second computer to the switch with this cable. Not sure if the problem was this cable being incompatible with the other cable or if the problem was the cable with the KVM switch. Gave it 3 stars since the cable did work fine by itself but I bought it because it claimed to work with KVM switches.

These PS2 / USB adapters are hit or miss, no matter which brand you buy. This Perixx model is no exception - it worked on a Lenovo mini PC but had issues on an older Gigabyte motherboard with a single PS2 port that accepts either mouse OR keyboard. (I had a PS2-only KVM set up on a test bench). I am not putting fault completely with the adapter, but let this be a buyer beware warning.

I like that the USB side isnt too bulky to interfere with any adjacent USB connectors. It didnt really need it to have mouse and keyboard for my uses, since my PC already has one PS/2 port , but its better to have and not need , then to need and not have. Either way I am using mine with a keyboard which has a touchpad built-in, it has two ps/2 output and my mother board has only one native PS/2. I am only use this adapter for the keyboard side. The mouse side functions and I could use both at the same time if I wanted but Ive notice a small response lag from the touchpad whenever I used it. Its not has bad as the lag Ive noticed from every wireless mouse but its a lag which hadnt t exist when it was in the native PS/2. So if people can game with wireless mice then it is still possible with this adapter.

Amazon want me to review. I needed this for an old input device, it seems well constructed, and worked for my needs. I was well satisfied.

Im a tech writer and use IBM Model 50 keyboards exclusively. The Model 50s use PS/2 connectors, which are becoming increasingly rare on modern computers. Enter the Perixx PS2 to USB adapter. These things work great. You plug the PS/2 connector into the keyboard cable, then plug the USB plug into the PC and youre on the air. Ive used them with several different desktops, workstations, and laptops and have had no problems with them. They work every time. Highly recommended.

I had an old Keyboard and Mouse with PS2 connectors which modern PCs do not support. I bought this and now I can connect them to a USB port on any PC. It works fine, the connections are nice and snug.

I have an old OmniKey/Ultra which I love and have used for at least 20 years. I noticed my keystrokes become randomly erratic. It appeared my motherboard ps2 interface was failing as I connected a cheap mushy key keyboard which has a USB interface connector and it worked just fine, but I couldnt stand using this cheap mushy key device, I love my old tactile feedback OmniKey. After reading some of the users questions and one responder saying he hooked in up to an OmniKey he had I thought I would give it a try. Windows 7, when it came up indicated it was installing a new device and obtained the drivers. Edit (9/6/14): This item appeared to work perfectly until I played an on-line game and discovered the repeat key function does not work correctly. When holding down a key, if you press another key and release it, the first key stops repeating and you must release and re-press the first key. This is either a defective adapter or has a design defect. The company is in Germany and has no toll free number for tech support. I am returning this item to Amazon and will be receiving a replacement. If the replacement performs the same way, then the item has a design defect. I will reduce the rating to 1 star till this is resolved. Edit (9/8/14): I received my replacement adapter from Amazon. It also does not work correctly when holding down a key to repeat and then pressing another key, the repeating key stops after a couple seconds (till the keystroke buffer clears). See above first Edit for more info. This is unacceptable for playing fast paced PC games or on-line games. I suspect the problem is the built in USB IC is not programmed correctly, since a standard USB keyboard works just fine. I verified this problem on two computers using keyboards with PS2 and USB interfaces. Do not buy this adapter if you play games, you will not be happy. If you only type text and never play games with movable avatars, you will be ok.

I have a MAME cabinet I built many years ago. I used an i-pac 2 card to translate the joysticks and buttons to keypresses. I recently got a raspberry pie 4 and now use it for the heart of the cabinet. This little gadget allowed me to do a plug-and-play replacement with my old pc that had ps2 keyboard input. The old ipac output is ps2 and (of course) the pie inputs are all usb. This thing worked perfectly!
