OMG, I am ignorant. I wish I would have read these reviews BEFORE I went ahead and spent thirtyplusdollars on this program. I bought it with the thought that I was going to be able to create DVDs to play in a regular DVD player. Believe it or not, I have friends who still watch videos on DVD! On the package, it says Videos made easy Create custom DVDs... etc. This led me to belive that I could create actual DVDs with menus, chapters, etc. WRONG!!! When I try to access this feature, the program tells me I need to upgrade!!! WTF???? I just bought this bloody thing and now they want me to spend eightymoredollars in order to do what the package SAYS it can do?????? Bollocks! I call shennanigans!!! Oh yes, I DID find one area where you can make a menu screen and TRY to import media. BUT that is so slow and tedious as to be nearly unusable. Then when the menu finally does load in...after several minutes watching a progress bar...you can do nothing with it. The music they put on it is WAYYY too loud and it can not be muted. You cant even change the music! ...there is no option! I finally did manage to get a few files moved into this decrepit interface and it started looking like I might be able to get something going after all. I started to feel hopeful. So I tried a burn, just to see what would happen. Guess what. It made a coaster!! Totally useless! Again, BOLLOCKS, I say! BTW, my system is an AMD Dual core with 4gigs of RAM and 1.25TB of HD storage. Running win7 64bit. Not a Screaming system by todays standards, but quite capable nonetheless. This software is just not what it claims to be. I am especially unhappy that I paid for a TRIAL VERSION!! I guess they must have seen me coming from a mile away. Yup, I got suckered by this package. Not again though. It has been removed and is on its way to the bin. If there is anything positive about this purchase, it is that I have learned a valuable lesson here: Read the reviews BEFORE buying software! So now my quest continues to find a program that I can use to actually create DVDs for general home use. Surely there must be SOMETHING out there??? ...somewhere??? One thing is certain though: I will surely never buy another Roxio product again. >>>UPDATE Nov 7, 2011<<< Subsequent to writing this review, I have discovered that my PC already has a DVD program built in. Windows Live DVD Maker comes with Windows 7. I have had a lot of success with the Windows software. No, this is not a review of Windows Live DVD Maker. I simply thought Id offer this up as a very viable alternative to this Roxio garbage.

I bought this software cheap ($10) after an instant rebate and mail-in rebate (that should have been a tip off) from a major big-box office retailer. I am running XP Service Pack 3 on a custom built computer with plenty of ability to run such a package. Right now I have Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 installed and it works fine copying, burning and making libraries and projects with CDs and DVDs. I have been happy with this version. However, because its 6 years old, I decided to try a newer Roxio product because I plan to upgrade to Win 7 and thought a newer package would be compatible with the new Windows. My purchase was a big mistake. I am a fairly experienced computer user 20+ years, so I should have known better. Basically, as in most things, you get what you pay for, so the low price should have been a warning. It turns out that this is 3-year old software (2007) and its slow. Yes, I got it to install OK and it removed my Roxio 7 and it was able to use it to copy a CD. However, it has a clunky interface and, in my opinion, is worse than the older product it sort of replaced. Fortunately, I have Rollback 8.0 on my machine (a great 5-star program by the way - its saved me numerous times) and was able to go back to a previous time and got rid of this Roxio product. Now it goes in the trash. After reading reviews of the latest Roxio products, I am going to stay away from all of them.

The product fulfilled a requirement necessary for classes, which is why I brought the item. I thank you for prompt service.

Corel has done to Roxio CD burning programs exactly what it did to Jasc Paint Shop Pro, which is to say ruined the whole shebang. Just as I went back to Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 after having tried Corels horrible Paint Shop Pro X, Im going back to Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum, which does work with Windows XP and reliably turns out a quality CD. This new waste of time and money is NOT backward compatible -- you cant even read open CDs created in REAL Roxio programs. The system requirements for authoring DVDs are much higher than those listed for merely installing the program. (Ill go back to Nero Essentials for DVDs.) I would not have purchased the program at all had I known that in advance. Although Corel claims it works under Windows XP, it is slow to install, balky in use, and not particularly capable when it does work. Roxio easy CD & DVD burning is a huge disappointment, and in my opinion, not worth the money.

I bought this software at a local store to burn some disks for a friends birthday gift. In the end the cds never worked, wasted dvds and time, the box is now in a heap of useless computer junk from years past. Dont let the price fool you or better yet let it be a warning. Piece of crap.

Roxio has always made a good product and this is no exception. The product does all it says . I enjoy making CDs so I dont have my original cds in the car. If some one gets away with a burnt CD ,I still have the original ! Good easy to understand software.

I had the old version of this a few years ago. It worked GREAT! I dont do any editing, just strickly copying dvds. The dvd burner in laptop I was using stopped working, the Roxio easy CD and DVD stopped working as well. I replaced the dvd burner just recently, and the new one is working just fine. Then I did a factory restore on the laptop, assuming I could reinstall the old Roxio easy CD and DVD. It would not let me install it! When I went to input teh product KEY code (I guess its their Proof of Purchase), it wouldnt recognize it and I could not proceed! I then figured it might be time for a NEW Roxio, and I bought the COMPLETE ROXIO CREATOR with VHS Transfer kit. I should have looked at the system requirements when I bought it, because I didnt have enough hard drive space to install it!! I did without dvd copying for a while, and a few weeks ago bought another copy of Roxio Easy CD and DVD. I installed it fine, put in the product key code fine, and it is working as well as could be expected. It does what it is supposed to. I now use this old laptop JUST to copy dvds. Last week I treated myself by buying a REALLY NICE laptop (Qosmio 3D!!). I will shortly install the COMPLETE ROXIO CREATOR on this. 500 GB should be enough space.

I find this Roxio burning program to be very time consuming and expensive to use [wasteful]. It seems every other time I use it, it complains about something wrong with this disc half way through the burn or failing to perform simple disc erases. I quit counting how many CD-R and DVD-R discs Ive thrown away because of Roxios nonsense. I finally quit using it. Now I simply fire up my old, FREE, CD BurnerXP program and it pops out perfect discs every time. Its just live and learn. The Roxio hype turned out to be a joke. MR

I only have one CD/DVD drive in my computer and it makes copying a bit more difficult, but the program works fine. I bought Roxio as I had it in my old computer and was familiar with it. Delivery was very swift and product all that I expected.
