This system uses a radio frequency (433.92Mh) shared by many home devices such as baby monitors, garage openers, and even handheld radio scanners. If your neighbors happened to turn on one of these devices while a burglar was attempting to rob your home the door sensor would not be able to communicate with the main SimpliSafe hub and the alarm would not trigger. If a burglar bought a cheap car starter they could potentially enter your home without triggering the alarm. The hub is supposed to detect interference and notify you but this is highly unreliable. The problem is the door sensors they give you are under powered and easily drowned out. I wouldnt trust my security to a company that cut corners like this. They dont tell you why they are able to offer you this service for so cheap because most people would never think to look for the companies FCC filings to find this out. A simple Google search could yield you the same information. I wont be using SimpliSafe and Ill look at a more reputable security company.

You can not self monitor with this system , im dissapointed no app to control via wifi unless you pay a monthly fee

Summary: I loved this system for its simplicity, transparent pricing and ease of use, but the functionality was flawed. Hence I had to return. Mixed experience with customer service. xxx I bought this system in Feb 2021, both the equipment and the monitoring service. I loved the transparency of their pricing, sleek and simple design, fast ship and the ease of installation. The system cell chip worked well in my house that usually struggles with cell reception. The app was fantastic - I could customize the time delays for different components etc. Then I took time to test the performance. Door sensors worked as expected being the simplest component of all. However, motion detectors did not work and neither did a glass break sensor. The advertised range for motion detectors is about 30 ft. 6ft person would enter the room, walk towards a detector, wave hands and only within a yard or so from the sensor the alarm would sound. I tested multiple motion sensors and all delivered the same result. Tech support suggested to change sensor sensitivity ( 45 ft raduis) but it did not make any difference. Overall, the support staff was eager to help but not very educated or experienced. In the end, I was concerned over having a false sense of security relying on the equipment that does not perform up to standard when one most needs it. In the end, I made a decision to return the system. The company honored its 60 day trial rule, however, the return process was messy and unlike the sales stage, I felt neglected... First, I received the backordered components after I returned the system so I had to go through the return process twice. Second, tracking the return package was close to impossible as the company changes carriers in the process - I have never seen it in the US domestic shipment. Third, the stated refund policy is 3-5 business days after the receipt of the return package. The company used 30-45 days instead with no plausible explanation. I truly wish that Simplysafe fixes the quality of its components and improves customer service.

The system does not allow you to access a log of when your sensors have been triggered, even if you pay for monitoring. In other words, you cannot see whether or when your doors have been opened, much less by whom. You can see when the alarm is armed, tripped, or deactivated. But unless you plan to keep the system armed literally at all times, you wont be able to see anything resembling a log of when doors/windows are opened and closed. Having had other systems (ADT in particular) that provide a log of sensor activity, I really cant overstate how important the feature is and how much I miss it. When I inquired about this basic feature (which other systems offer and would just involve making available to the user data that Simplisafe already collects), here is what I was told in August 2021: When a sensor is alarmed you will receive notifications. Unfortunately you can not [sic] view this when the system is disarmed. Thank you for being a SimpliSafe customer. We appreciate your business.

I had the previous generation Simplisafe and I was pretty happy with it, except for the bulky look of all the components. That has been thoroughly addressed in this new generation. Everything looks much nicer and feels much more modern. Setup is a breeze and it truly does give you @home security without requiring monitoring. That said, times have changed. The home security market is getting pretty flooded now and you dont have to pay an arm and a leg to ADT anymore. Simplisafe feels like it has all the sensors you could need and offers a good price for full monitoring. However, you dont get ANY meaningful smart home or smart phone integration out of the box. if you really want to have any kind of actual visibility into your home security when you are away from home, you are going to really pay for it. You dont even get smart phone app integration without paying extra for it and you cant even pay for the app integration without first paying for monitoring. If they even had a super cheap app integration without monitoring (say $5.95 / month), it would be much more attractive for true DIY without the full expense of monitoring. Without that, I think there are other systems out there like Abode which are much more attractive due to their smart home integration capabilities. Bottom line, if you intend to pay for monitoring and want a wide array of sensors, this is a good pick. If you want smart phone or other smart home device integration without full monitoring, look elsewhere.

We should not have to go thr a lot to order batteries. Serivce should streamline updates and batteries to power devices. Some entry access sensors stopped detecting/working, so I had to order to replace. Also, customer serivce, has been slow from the start. Still waiting on how to hook up WIFI camera.

Very easy to install, customer support is very personable and helpful. 100% recommend to anyone looking for a security system.

Very cool idea kinda a DIY security system but door monitors and wifi cameras are very susceptible to radio jamming and wifi jamming and could easily be disabled by anyone near the secure location

Purchased this for my daughter. She moved in to her first apartment alone. This was easy to set up and made her feel safe.
