> 24 hourA few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to purchase one of the few remaining BRAND NEW Windows 7 laptops direct from the manufacturer (a Toshiba Satellite C50). I was researching antivirus and anti-malware programs because I did not want to settle for a Norton 30-day trial. The usual suspects (Norton, McAfee, etc.) just would not do most users justice due to bad tech support, bloating, etc. Then I read about Webroot SecureAnywhere, and was quite impressed by users reactions after using the product. After validating my Windows 7 and Microsoft Office for the first time, I immediately put the CD-ROM into my laptop; the installation had taken no more than 2-3 minutes tops. The scan time is super fast and takes effect once every 24 hours, even with my computer off! (I just checked the results of my last scan; duration was only 15 seconds!) When I use Google and look through the results, I get colored circles telling me about the risks, etc. Once, I attempted to download a game demo, but Webroot saved me from possible malware! (It found suspected malware and got rid of the problem in just seconds! I ran another full scan afterwards just to be safe.) Overall, I am glad that I purchased this utility. Even if youve never heard of Webroot, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you purchase this program for your computer, new or old! Amazon always has a great deal on this program, too, so please add this to your cart!

> 24 hourThis operates seamlessly in the background. Non-intrusive. The absolute best customer service for anti-virus Ive ever experienced. This was a renewal, so CD took me to internet to renew. Very fast and easy. Program includes permanent erase, which is a nice feature, and also works friendly with other anti-virus installed. Unlike some anti-virus programs that operate in the cloud, this one allows you to scan your files or computer without having to be connected to the Internet, even though overall the anti-virus works from the cloud. I dont know who created this program (so many are from other countries), but I like that its based in Colorado instead of a foreign nation.

> 24 hourIve used more security programs in the past 15 years than I care to count. Among those that Ive used are Norton, McAfee, Comodo, Kaspersky, AVG, TrendMicro, and Panda. From an IT standpoint all the way to the end user experience, I havent used anything as good as Webroot. Webroot stood out to me because it is a cloud based product. There arent huge virus definition files to update that constantly slow down your computer. The scans are fast. Even on older systems, it can run a scan without you ever noticing a drop in performance. Its an incredibly light program, and certainly not a resource hog like other AV programs seem to always be. Ive never gotten a false positive from the program, and in the 2 years Ive been running it, I havent been infected once. My favorite thing about Webroot? Its an American company, and I love to support America. Most major AV software brands are based overseas. Give it a try - it will most likely be the last AV you ever buy.

> 24 hourUpdate on March 10, 2017 Raising my rating to 2 stars because of Webroots responsiveness, although it took them a week to actually understand the problem and provide relevant advice. Meanwhile, I returned the disk to Amazon, Googled reviews for security software, saw Webroot was still highly rated for its out-of-box approach and found a link in the PCWorld review which allowed me to renew my software for only $29.99 ($50 off--good until June, 2017.) That went very smoothly. Just entered my activation code and was up and running for another year. I declined the automatic renewal as it locks you in to paying full retail. I prefer to shop and save 60+%. And how tough is it to type security software reviews 2017 into Googles search box? Cannot go higher than 2 stars because installation from this disk is not straightforward and requires special effort from the renewal user to find the activation code in their Amazon order and enter it before their installed, expiring/expired software will (based on Webroots feedback) permit installation of the new software or simply renew it. This is WAY TOO complicated. Was not like this any previous year. Webroot NEEDS TO FIX THIS. If I could rate this lower, I would. What you need to know is if you currently have Webroot software, this disc will not install. Instead of running, it just takes you back to your installed version warning you to renew at an additional cost of $79.99. Moreover it will not uninstall, insisting your password is incorrect. Interesting ploy from a drowning company. Used to love Webroot, but it has betrayed my trust. Not good for a security company. Webroot used to be excellent. My recommendation, go elsewhere for your security software. Webroot has lost its way.

> 24 hourSlower than my previous software (Norton). I should have stick with Norton. WEBROOT is a very suspicious security software scam. Never once has it find and remove even a single virus which is very unusual even with the best of the best security software. I dont trust WEBROOT. Stay away from it. Highly suspicious to be a scam. In addition my, computer is now slower. Im going to pay for Norton and override this crap even though my subscription is still about ten months to expire.

> 24 hourI purchased this software on October 20, i.e. a bit more than a month ago. When I first installed the software, I had specifically formatted my hard disk to assure that Id install the security software on a clean hard disk. While the installation of Webroot proved to be easy and quick, I sensed that my browser(s) was loading dreadfully slowly. Analog phone-line pace. Customarily I only use one browser, but I installed a couple of different ones in an attempt to determine whether the slow loading was browser-specific. It made no difference. I contacted the developer and received a brief answer after a few days (Id hate to have an emergency): uninstall and reinstall. Initially, that simple instruction worked. Now, a couple of weeks later, Im back to the slow-loading of the browsers. To be transparent, I run Windows 7 Ultra and have only productivity software (MS Office 2010) installed on my computer. No games, no pictures, no music. At this point, Im annoyed with the security software; while it has kept my computer safe, it slows me down tremendously in my work. The period to return the software has expired. Moreover, I note that Amazon is now selling the same precise version for $22.00 less than I paid in October. Not pleased about that either. I will in likelihood return to the new version of the security software I used in previous years. This experiment has failed.

> 24 hourUnfortunately this is not getting all the issues. I have malware on my computer that continues to open the internet over and over and using up 99% of the processing locking it up. I now have to seek a professional to take care of the problem

> 24 hourNeed to find something cheaper, but for 5 computers for a year, it was a good price. It is also quick. My last bout with Norton took 2 hours (a couple years ago). This was 20 minutes. Loaded it on other family machines and detected issues with them all. I already had this on my machine. Note that the Amazon price was less than the Webroot renewal price, which was too steep. That is why I was looking for another product. At this price for 5 computers, Ill stick with webroot.

> 24 hourI regret ever trying this product. They decided to retire their app and create a new one. The key code they provided for current customers to switch apps was EXPIRED so I went months without ANY security. I purchased a new version with a physical card with a new key code and it was EXPIRED too. Calling the company for help is futile. There is no way to reach a human being, they just keep repeating the same useless instructions over and over until you disconnect the call. Never again.

> 24 hourWebroot has caught many threats to my computers. It works automatically and can also be worked manually. Their are also some settings that users may choose from that may cover some special concerns. It is fast as it is configured. But I found one threat that it had missed by going directly to the whole operating system, C: drive, and start the app from there. It took a long time to run that way, and it only caught one threat. I plan to use it this way only twice a year. And I will renew my contract soon. UPDATE - 10/17/15: All of the above is or was true, Im jut angry with them. The CD they sent me would not accept the Product Code, the on line help is all robotic. I wasted two hours and got nowhere. Im leaving the 4-STARS posted, but Im sending the software back and changing my digital security to Norton.
