> 3 dayI bought this product after reviewers from several different sources said it was the best. Two weeks after installing it my computer it was taken over by the DNS Unlocker virus. Not only did this Webroot software not detect it, it couldn’t quarantine or repair it. Thankfully, I was able to get rid of it using the instructions from the Microsoft Community postings. I have been using computers since the 1980’s and have installed many different brands of antivirus software and this is the first such problem I have ever had. I guess this is lesson learned and time to move to something else. Update: About 10 minutes after posting my review, James Garcia of Webroot posted his comment. To no surprise, they blame the consumer saying the virus that infected my computer is “a potentially unwanted application that is always installed by user consent”. He then goes on to say that “Anytime that you think you are infected, it is best to reach out to our support team for assistance. They can remote in and resolve issues such as this free of charge”. First, thanks for the rapid response, even if it just to blame me and attempt to do damage control. Second, your company claims that their product (and I quote) “Webroot Internet Security Complete 2016 provides real-time protection for PCs, Macs and your Android/iOS devices, blocking viruses, malware, phishing attacks and identity theft”. So why doesn’t the software intervene and quarantine the problem or at least warn the user this is occurring? Why should I have to wait to have my equipment to become infected and then it be MY responsibility to contact you for help? Third, according to Microsoft, “Computer viruses are small software programs that are designed to spread from one computer to another and to interfere with computer operation”, so your company’s stand that the DNS Unlocker is NOT a virus is invalid (at best). If you feel this is inaccurate, please feel free to argue with Bill Gates. Lastly, I’m not asking your company for anything, except to get what I already paid for. I will not recommend your product to anyone.

> 3 day4th year for using Webroot. Highly recommend. I ignore the Webroot attempts to get you to purchase from them and buy from Amazon. If you activate a new keycode note: you will not lose current subscription time, it simply adds on the new subscription to it. To install it is simple: Open the Webroot window on your desktop, go to My Account and click on the wheel to the right of it. This brings up an open section to enter your NEW KEYCODE, click on Activate below and you are done. If you have the actual software disc which I prefer, you do not have to use it, just the keycode. Several reviews have wrestled with this. Never have had a security issue with this software!

> 3 dayIve been using Webroots product for the last 10 months, and due to the fact that my laptop is still free of any issues is a testament to the effectiveness of this product and my careful web surfing. Im not a digital techy, so I cant give you the nuts and bolts of why this has been working so well. I can tell you that Webroot works so quickly and seamlessly in the background that you have to check now and then that its still engaged. Ive used Norton, McAfee, and Kaspersky over the years and found that they were either memory hogs, or run slowly robbing resources, and sometimes both. What I find frustrating is that online reviews of virus, etc., software are very unreliable, with many of them being overly complimentary while others pan the very same product. How much influence do these software manufacturers have on these sites that accept advertising? Consumer Reports is probably the most trusted source (accepting no advertising), but they didnt include this Webroot product in their last review. Another frustration is that when its time to renew, manufacturers, including this one, start sending reminders at least 60 days in advance of the end of the service period. Their offer for renewal never shows the best price available, so shopping again for the same software online is strongly recommended. I dont have any issue with the product, but the marketing schemes used by these companies is anti-consumer, especially toward their existing customers. Ever felt that way about your cable company or your cell phone provider? Do software manufacturers really want to be lumped with cable companies occupying the bottom of the list of trusted service providers?

> 3 dayFantastic, but beware!!! If you have any issues at all (or even questions), do not call any number for Webroot other than that at their corporate headquarters in Colorado (303-442-3813). Other numbers you find on the internet are probably an outside, foreign support site. When you call them, they will take remote access of your computer and use information they garner for their own purposes. Nothing can be done because they are foreign companies. Forewarned is forearmed. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT PROGRAM TO REMOVE ANY AND ALL OUTSIDE GARBAGE FROM YOUR COMPUTER. And their support representatives (the real ones) are really helpful and nice.

Greater than one weekI checked reviews from the top rated security programs and this one rated the highest. I have only had it a short time but it seems to be working real good. I got the one that secures 5 devices because I have many devices that needed it, i.e. laptop, desktop, phone, tablet, etc. so it was nice that it covered everything. The only annoying thing was it kept notifying me on my phone that I had security, but I put it in the background so it wasnt showing up all the time. I prefer it to work in the background. Other than that I have had no problems with it.

> 3 dayMost other security software tend to get in the way and slow down te computer, or to take forever to get their updates, or to want constant inputs from the user. Webroot does its job effectively and fast. Any, by the way, it also works with WinXP as well.

> 3 dayThis is the best antivirus I have ever used, and my customers love it as well. It has received multiple awards from PC Mag over the past several years, and it only takes up about a megabyte of space on your hard drive. The virus definitions are stored in the Cloud, and it runs fairly fast on processors like Pentium and Celeron, and wickedly fast on those processors that end with a K (like 4930K). It will locate keyloggers, and bots with ease, and malware doesnt stand a chance. Do yourself a favor and buy Webroot Antivirus, as you cannot go wrong.

12-06-2025I used the top 2 most popular brands in the past and when my subscription ended for this last company, I decided to try Webroot. My sister has been saying how great it is for years. But I was apprehensive about changing. Boy and I glad I did. It was trivial to install and now my computer comes on so much faster. The scans are faster as well. There are only 2 things I wish were different. One is that the little safe web icons (green check marks) do not appear for Firefox browser. Or at least I was unable to find an add-on extension that would allow it. I do have it on Chrome though. So I do my web searches on Chrome now. Also, I lost a feature from my prior software that had a safe money feature for when I signed onto my bank and investment accounts or used my credit card for a purchase. But Im not even sure what that feature was. So for all I know, it didnt do anything more than Webroot does. Anyway, Im very happy with this change. Only time will tell if I get annoying reminders to renew online toward the end of my subscription. I dont like doing that because the price is always higher that way. I prefer to buy it on Amazon each year to get the best price. That said, it would be nice if the renewal price was competitive with the new purchase price so I didnt have to go through that effort.

> 3 dayFirst I liked the price--upgraded to best package for a lot less than webroot would renew the package I had been using. Webroot offended me with their aggressive renew threats where they tried to force me to renew or uninstall before my subscription was out. It was relatively easy to uninstall and install new program on win7 and even easier on win10.

Greater than one weekIve used Webroot previously and was pleased, but after reading stellar reviews of Bitdefender I decided to give it a try. BIG MISTAKE!!! Bitdefender caused daily blue screen abends on both of my Windows 7 machines and would not download at all on my Windows 8 machine. Emails to tech support only resulted in a generic reply. Thankfully I was able to uninstall it and bought a new copy of Webroot. Its a great program in every way. Installation and setup was a breeze and no more system abends! I know better than to look elsewhere in the future. Thanks Webroot team!
