I bought this for my now 8 year old cousin for his birthday, its the main thing he asked for. When he got it he was so happy, he played all the time. Now I dont see him playing much(after a month) I think its getting too hard perhaps, or maybe he just doesnt like reading the words on the game haha. If he was a little bit older I think he would appreciate it more.

I played the original when it came out in 2003. The world within Alpha Sapphire evokes every bit of nostalgia I had hoped it would. Chances are you already acquainted with Pokemon and how they work. So I’ll spare you a lengthy introduction to the world of Pokemon ala Prof. Oak. There are new features that enhance the gaming experience as well as the replayability factor. There are new dexNav modes that allow you to search for specific pokemon, and doubles as a sort of minigame in finding all the pokemon in an area. Mirage islands provide an excellent area for training as well as finding new pokemon. It may just be me but I found that more pokemon from Johto are more prominent than before — which is a huge plus for me as its my favorite generation. It’s an excellent entry in the series, and a great starting point for beginners.

First note that you can acquire a few bonuses by completing the demo from the Nintendo e-shop. I recommend doing this so you can receive a mega Glalie or mega Steelix (I got Glalie). There are also additional Mossdeep villagers and heart scale sets, pokeballs, etc... 10 times playing through the demo will clear it. This is actually a remake (for the nine people who didnt know it) for Pokemon Sapphire (and Ruby) for the GBA over 10 years ago. The graphics and sound have been dramatically improved of course. There are also additional improvements and additions that were not present in the original games. Since I started my Pokemon playing with the DS game Pokemon Diamond, I have not played the original. Ive delved into the game a bit and I can address a few pros and cons for fans of the series: + This is a gorgeous game, graphics are on par with X and Y. + Music is catchy and high quality when listening through headphones. + Mega Evoultions! + Better online connectivity and online vs modes, Streetpass is great. + Lots of places to use HMs, so a nice need to balance your party. + Free range flying later in the game. + Decorating your own base! - Lots of water to traverse... - Mostly repetitive for those whove played the originals - Only partially 3D for those that like 3D modes (which I dont use anyway), mainly in battle. IGN gave this a pretty average rating (7.8 - the original was 9.5), but it IS a remake, so you cant expect too many advancements and improvements!

This game is basically pokemon sapphire for the gba but in 3d and with the newer pokemon , the only thing is that they either dumbed down or completely removed some puzzles in the game.It is also too easy to get a legendary , i got a latias and a Zekrom before i even saw kyogre in game.

Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are enhanced remakes of the original Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, which released on the Game Boy Advance 11 years ago. A few necessary changes have been made to the original versions to keep up with the newer generations, and some additional features have been added to give the games a fresh feeling to veteran players. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ALPHA SAPPHIRE AND OMEGA RUBY Like usual, two versions of the same game are available. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are nearly identical; however, there are a few differences between the two that are larger than most alternate versions. The biggest alteration between the two versions is the main antagonist team. In Pokemon Omega Ruby, Team Magma will be the primary team you encounter throughout Hoenn. In Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, Team Aqua will be the primary team you encounter throughout Hoenn. VERSION EXCLUSIVE POKEMON In addition to slight story changes, select Pokemon will only be available in one of the versions. These version exclusive Pokemon are usually made to promote trading between players. All players can trade over wi-fi between X, Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire immediately after obtaining the Pokedex and installing the Player Search System app on the PokeNav Plus. Omega Ruby Exclusives--- Alpha Sapphire Exclusives Groudon ------------- Kyogre Latios ------------- Latias Mawile --------------- Sableye Seedot ---------------- Lotad Nuzleaf ---------------- Lombre Shiftry --------------- Ludicolo Solrock --------------- Lunatone Zangoose --------------Seviper Ho-Oh (Mirage Spots) --- Lugia (Mirage Spots) Palkia (Mirage Spots) --- Dialga (Mirage Spots) Reshiram (Mirage Spots)--- Zekrom (Mirage Spots) Tornadus (Mirage Spots)---- Thundurus (Mirage Spots) Kabuto (Fossils) --------- Omanyte (Fossils) Shieldon (Fossils) -------Cranidos (Fossils) Archen (Fossils) ------------ Tirtouga (Fossils) Skrelp (After Groudon)----------- Clauncher (After Kyogre) Throh (After Groudon) ------------ Sawk (After Kyogre) Mega Stones will not be version exclusive, but the locations of a handful of Mega Stones will change depending on the version. Also the looks of certian Mega-Evolved Pokemon will change depending on which version you have. Hope this helps anyone out!

As always, Pokemon continues to deliver. It doesnt simply take the original Sapphire and revamp the graphics; it adds new game mechanics, plotline, and characters. However, they really dropped the ball with the berries. In the original, all the different types of berry trees had unique sprites; in Alpha Sapphire, all the berry trees look the same. As someone who loved doing berry routes in the original game, this was a huge disappointment. In general, nostalgia made the game less enjoyable, as I was constantly comparing it to the original. Other than that, the game was great and I would definitely recommend it.

A great remake of the famous third generation Pokemon games. While I have tried to keep spoilers to a minimum, there are a few mild, spoilers below. Nothing plot-ruining, but nonetheless spoilers. Pros ~New overworld graphics ~New moves and move graphics ~Can have both bikes ~New mega-evolutions ~Delta episode ~New and updated NPC text ~Tie-ins to XY and Mega-Evolutions ~Contests ~New Surfing abilities ~Soaring in the Sky Cons ~Double battles and horde battles not in 3D ~No character customization -The Delta Episode is a playable instance after you have beat the Elite Four, and is seemingly the spiritual successor to Pokemon Emerald. It has a never before seen story that helps fill in the background of Mega-Evolution. It allows you to catch Rayquaza and Deoxys. -Contests make a return in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. They are optional and have their own small story line. -Several old characters are fleshed out. May/Brendan become more like teenager girls/boys than a stiff uncaring NPC. Steven Stones history and personal life is told in greater detail, giving us a better look into the Hoenn Champions mind. The leaders and admins of Team Aqua/Magma have distinct personalities and stories that are both intriguing and appealing. We learn a little bit more about Wallace, the gym leader of Sootopolis City and his connection to the Cave of Origins and Rayquazas Tower. Wally becomes an interesting character instead of a tedious side note. -Once you meet Latios/Latias and recieve the Eon Flute you can call upon one of them to ride anywhere in Hoenn. We have all wished to have an actual flying mechanic in the Pokemon games and now we have it. -A lot of the legendary Pokemon can be unlocked and captured through mysterious portals. There is a lot more to say and not much time or space to say it. All in all Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, are in my opinion, one of the if not the best Pokemon games ever made. It is a beautiful remake, with both new and recurring mechanics that blend together into a game that entices both the old Pokemon players and the new. It is both fresh and nostalgic allowing for tons of hours of play-through even for those who played the originals (I put over 500 hours into Pokemon Emerald over the years, in the past few weeks I have already put over 50 hours into Alpha Sapphire and intend to put a lot more).

First things first. If you get the reference in the review headline, kudos! :) Alright, down to business. Many people who are considering this game are long-time Pokemon fans who have played the original Ruby, Sapphire and/or Emerald. Many consider the Hoenn region to be the best of all of the regions to date. If this is how you feel, you wont be let down by this game. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire rebuild the entirety of the Hoenn region in spectacular 3D. Every route is nearly identical. Some routes and areas have new paths or areas tacked on to give them a fresh, remastered feel. Nintendo left no stone unturned in this remastered Hoenn region. SUPER-SECRET BASES The secret bases of the original game make their return with WiFi features! Its great fun to decorate your base in a manner that makes it quite difficult (but NOT impossible) to take your flag. :) POKEMON Nothing new to see here! Thats probably a relief. Im sure many long-time fans of the original R/S/E wouldnt like to see new Pokemon from later generations added to the wild Pokemon roster. :) You can find wild Pokemon from other generations after defeating the Elite 4, but not during your normal pre-Elite 4 playthrough. POKENAV PLUS The PokeNav Plus is a great upgrade to the original PokeNav. You still receive the Player Search System (or PSS) for online functions, Super Training and Pokemon Amie. Other new features are added, such as the DexNav which allows you to search for and chain specific Pokemon similarly to the PokeRadar. The AreaNav is essentially the town map, but on the lower screen! It can show you where you have berries ready to harvest, the Trainers Eyes app is there, and you can locate Super-Secret Bases with it, as well! EXPLORING The Hoenn region was probably the first region to really include any in-depth exploration opportunities. All the same opportunities exist, with a few extra thrown in! Some routes have new areas or paths tacked on, and there are entirely new secret areas added for Super-Secret Bases! ;) EXPERIENCE Overall, I have more than 80 hours pumped into this game (I only play when my girlfriend does) and still have not gone to the Elite 4. There is just that much to do in the game. The DexNav has taken up the majority of my time, though. But be careful with the DexNav and Exp. Share! As a result of my abuse of the DexNav and always-on Exp. Share (you can turn it off), my entire team is over leveled by upwards of 25! My Sceptile is almost level 70 and I still dont have the Sootopolis badge. CONCLUSION If you like Pokemon, this should be a no-brainer. If you liked the original Ruby, Sapphire and/or Emerald, this should be a no-brainer. What are you waiting for? Grab yourself a copy today!
