> 3 dayThis is my 2nd IOGear KVM. A few months earlier, I bought a GCS932U DVI KVM, and it works great. So, when I needed a 2nd switch for an older system with analog video, I got this GCS632U. Pros: - Easy to set up - Can emulate Mac keys on PC keyboard - Solid construction Cons: - Hot keys must be used for switching; there is no separate switch. - You must switch to the 2nd computer before powering it up otherwise it will not be able to read your monitor info. - Windows PC will bleep when switched on or off due to it detecting the USB devices coming or going. - Cables are very thick making them hard to dress. Its not perfect, but it would be hard to do better at this price!

> 3 dayI have a wireless keyboard and mouse which both use the same receiver and wanted to use this to connect a Mac running OS X and a PC running both Windows and Linux, so I was a bit worried about compatibility. Well, everything worked perfectly. Even the hotkeys for controlling itunes and web browsers on the keyboard worked. I know some people have complained about the audio quality, but though I dont use either computer for playing loud music or have particularly high quality speakers, I didnt notice any problem with audio quality. I almost always find something that I dont quite like about everything I buy, but in the two months I have been using this KVM, I have found only good things to say.

> 3 dayI bought this originally at BestBuy for $52.99 +tax. I returned it and bought it cheaper with this vendor. I have a ABS desktop (XP Home Ed) and a HP laptop (Vista) on my desk. I rarily take my laptop downstairs so it acts like a second desktop PC. Okay, when I got it was good shape. Hooked it up following the Quick Start Guide included. No problems. Be sure both computers are completely shut down before hooking it up. After, turning them on, the drivers were recognized after a few minutes and then I was able to click Scroll Lock twice in row and VOILA!! the switch occurs. I mainly purchased it so I could play music from my Laptop PC on my Logitech PC speakers. Unfortunately I noticed that there was only one jack for the speaker input, so there is no SURROUND SOUND capability available. I am disappointed in that so hence the 4 STARS. Also the VGA connection from my Laptop to my ACER 22 inch LCD monitor is not the clearest. It is readable, however if you look closely at 1280 x 800 display setting, there is a noticable electronic line scrolling down the page and makes the font appear somewhat weirdly in a split instance. Its hard to explain. Dont be alarmed, however, because it is barely noticeable. But could drive some people nuts if they are meticulous in nature. That is the nature of the beast when you have a set up like this. This setup allows me to type from one keyboard and use one mouse and one set of speakers. So I will choose the convenience it affords me over the inconvenience of a small continuous scrolling aberation on the LCD screen and non-surround sound capability. I hope this helps you in your decision to buy or not to to buy, which is the #1 question asked by all consumers.

> 3 dayWorking well for me with wired keyboard and wireless mouse, Im not using audio. Video looks good - i dont think i can see a difference with the KVM installed. The keyboard and mouse have to be plugged into the KVM correctly, according to the written instructions and the symbols on the KVM itself. I rushed through that step (thinking USB is Universal) and got them backwards, and the KVM wouldnt switch. IOGEAR phone support helped in minutes. He didnt ask me if i had RTFM, as he was well within his rights to do, and was helpful. He might get a lot of this question every day. The video switch takes about 3 seconds to one computer, and 4 seconds to the other. I think this is the computer speed and how quickly it detects that there is a new screen attached. It would be nice if the KVM switch could keep the the unused side warm so that the switch-over would be faster. This would probably require support in the computer itself (each computer). Amazons price and shipping were excellent. A+++ Would buy again.

> 3 dayThis KVM is quit simple and very small device without external button to switch between two computers and you need to use the keyboard by press & release Scroll Lock key twice. Cables provided are long enough but your cant change them in case of demage because they are sealed with the KVM switch. I give this KVM 4 out of 5 because of delay when I switch to Windows but this problem my exist only if you use Wireless Keyboard & mouse set. It is a very good vlaue and I save $20 with Amazon instead of buying from Bestbuy or Microcenter Plus fast shipping offer one day. Thank you Amazon. After one hour palying with the KVM switch trying to figure out how function it with wireless keyboard and two different Operating systems. Finally, I make it and I would like to sure my expirence with other customers who couldnt be able to make it. :My setup: -

> 3 dayFor the money this is a very solid KVM switch. It gets a little funky when you have wireless keyboard/mouse combo sometimes. Sometimes I have to switch the wireless receiver from port to port on the KVM switch to wake it up, but it rarely happens at least for me. For the money, you cannot beat this deal.

> 3 dayIve used this exact model of KVM switch for a good 5 years now. I use it to run a Windows 98 computer so I can play old games on it and my Windows 7 computer. I use another one in my downstairs office to run a Mac Mini and a Windows XP computer at the same time and be able to switch between them using the scroll lock key. I tried daisy chaining two together so I could run more computers off the same mouse, keyboard, and monitor but it wouldnt work that way. They dont last forever so its good to keep a spare.

Greater than one weekEDITED: Still going strong after 2 years. I havent ever had a game/program have issues while changing keyboard in the middle (thanks to the mouse/keyboard emulation) unlike other KVMs I have used. I dont use this for audio or video, so no thoughts there. I wish they made one without all the extra wires (I only want mouse/keyboard). I also found someone elses review useful that told how to change double-press ScrollLock to change to double-press Ctrl. To make the switch, hold NumLock, press -, then release both and tap t. ORIGINAL: Ive gone through several KVM switches in the past 10 years. The issue I was having with other KVM switches was my computers were having issues reconnecting to the USB keyboard when switching between them (I have a Mac laptop and Windows desktop). This is not an issue with the IOGEAR KVM, since it puts an emulated mouse and keyboard on both computers. Switching between systems no longer makes the audible disconnect/connect sounds in Windows/MAC. I am using Microsoft Natural Ergonimic Keyboard 4000 (HIGHLY recommended if you use computers a lot, I got carpal tunnel syndrome within a few years of programming out of college). They special keys seem to be passed through. For instance, I pressed the calculator and mute buttons and they happen in Windows. I am not using any mice or displays with this KVM, so cant say much about that. For those using two computers, I recommend having two separate mice. They dont take much space on the desktop, unlike having two keyboards. And most of the time I can get away with keeping the keyboard on one system and just using the mouse on the other.
