> 3 dayI have an old mac G4 desktop and a G4 mini mac sharing a kensington mouse, generic monitor and an Apple USB keyboard. Ive been lucky that I havent had any problems with switching or with either unit awakening from sleep. I was annoyed to discover I couldnt use the keyboards USB ports for my printer, and saw that this problem was mentioned in other reviews. I was even more annoyed when I called tech support (at least its free, 24-7) to confirm that the KVM killing the keyboard ports is a known issue, and the guy asked me stuff like Is your power cord plugged in and check your connections. After arguing for 5 minutes about where I plugged in the printer, he finally understood what I had asked at the BEGINNING of the call. His response was that the KVM emulates the keyboard and wont carry the USB connection, and that I should plug the printer in directly into the computer. Besides losing 10 minutes of my life in a stupid conversation, I was angry that Iogear knows this is an issue and makes no mention of it. I can set up an extra USB hub pretty easily, but fortunately I dont ask for extra functionality from my keyboard or mouse. Overall, this product works just fine, but be careful if you need more from your mouse and keyboard.

> 3 dayi have a linux desktop and a windows laptop with one LCD screen, one usb keyboard and a usb mouse. So i got this one and it has been working great always, simple way to switch between machines and has an led indicator to know whats active. Sometimes i gets hanged (happened about 3 times over 4 months) and i am not sure if its because of my linux desktop, things seem to work fuzzy with linux at times, otherwise no complains

> 3 dayI have tried out the product with a Logic Tech K520 keyboard and mouse. The screen switches back and forth quickly but the mouse and keyboard take nearly 20 seconds to become useful. IOGear warns that this may be a problem.Over all I really enjoy the device and it has been come very useful since I use it as the primary screen for one computer and the Extended desktop for a laptop. Will probably get a wired mouse and keyboard to solve this problem.

> 3 dayThis KVM works very well; its attached to my Mac Mini and an old PC. I have not tried the audio feature. The audio and USB cables have convenient wire-management clips that slide up and down the main cable, which keeps their generous length from getting in the way. Unfortunately, this is yet another product that features very awkward sealed packaging. Customers should not have to use heavy-duty scissors and get scratched by the resulting sharp edges just to get at the product. I reserved one star due to this customer-unfriendly packaging.

12-06-2025Working well for me with wired keyboard and wireless mouse, Im not using audio. Video looks good - i dont think i can see a difference with the KVM installed. The keyboard and mouse have to be plugged into the KVM correctly, according to the written instructions and the symbols on the KVM itself. I rushed through that step (thinking USB is Universal) and got them backwards, and the KVM wouldnt switch. IOGEAR phone support helped in minutes. He didnt ask me if i had RTFM, as he was well within his rights to do, and was helpful. He might get a lot of this question every day. The video switch takes about 3 seconds to one computer, and 4 seconds to the other. I think this is the computer speed and how quickly it detects that there is a new screen attached. It would be nice if the KVM switch could keep the the unused side warm so that the switch-over would be faster. This would probably require support in the computer itself (each computer). Amazons price and shipping were excellent. A+++ Would buy again.

> 3 dayI have been using the GCS632U with two Dell computers for more than two months. The device works as advertised including crystal clear and noise free audio. One minor issue is sometimes upon powering-on the “B” computer with the “A” computer already running the “B” computer does not find the mouse. The problem is easily resolved by pressing “Scroll Lock” twice to switch to the “A” computer then pressing “Scroll Lock” twice to switch back to the “B” computer – it always finds the mouse. Note that the problem only occurs on Power-on and never occurs when switching to a computer that is in the “Sleep State”. I would recommend this product to a friend.

Greater than one weekI have two towers on my desktop and I dont necessarily want identical copies of the data on each, and this is the perfect solution. While I dont have kids, this would also be a great solution for that too, with switching as simple as the touch of a button, or a keyboard command, allowing each to share the same monitor. Super easy set-up, just plug in your monitor, mouse, speakers to the hub and connect the other ends to each computer, along with a plug in for shared speaker set up. Cant get much easier than that! Very happy customer.

> 3 dayUnit Failure: I tried everything, and I could only get one of the two USB ports to function. Tried mouse, keyboard, flash card reader... everything worked on side one; nothing on side two. Strange thing is that they all got power -- the mouse lit up, the flash card reader lit up -- but werent recognized. Attempted on second workstation with same results. Not sure if this is a defective unit or just bad design. Design Flaw: The only way to switch between computers is a keyboard hot key combination. However, I COULD NOT GET ANY COMBINATION TO WORK. I tried everything in the book, and nothing would switch computers. I could type fine; the unit simply refused to recognize any attempt to switch. I have no idea if this is an issue with my keyboard or the switch. Functional Quirks: Even with the side that worked, I noticed irregularities. When I first plugged-in my mouse, my PC didnt see any changes. Even after a restart, nothing. On a whim, I unplugged the mouse from the switch and inserted into Computer, which the PC immediately recognized. I then unplugged/plugged into switch, and the PC recognized it this time with the switch. Same behavior with the keyboard. Experience was not consistent, i.e. I restarted several times afterward and it seemed to be ok. Summary: 1. Due to the design flaw (keyboard switching), I was not able to successfully switch between computers; and, thus, could not confirm the unit would switch between PC and Mac. 2. Due to the product flaw (bad switch), I was simultaneously able to use a keyboard or a mouse, but not both at the same time. 3. Due to the irregularities of the one working USB port, I do not have sufficient faith in this unit to exchange for another one. The last thing I want is to spend two weeks getting a replacement only to have plug the mouse in and out of the PC periodically to get it to work. Recommendation: I do not recommend this unit or this vendor under any circumstances. Find a unit with a hard button switch to prevent any keyboard hot key incompatibility. You obviously get what you pay for. If any one has any suggestions, feel free to email me at [email protected] Computer 1: Windows XP Professional Computer 2: new Mac Mini Peripherals: Microsoft Natural Keyboard, Microsoft Optical Mouse

> 3 dayRight now I am a happy user of the GCS632U. Like alot of people point out, there are issues with the audio. Ignoring frequency response or audio quality, I found that if I have speakers hooked up to the KVM, the KVM itself locks up once or twice a day. On a whim I connected my speakers straight to an MP3 player one weekend and noticed the KVM wasnt having issues anymore. I have gone almost a week now without having to reset the KVM. So now I am happy with it. I was about to return it but since audio switching just isnt that important to me, Ill keep it. I use it with a Logitech MX1000 laser mouse and a Kinesis Advantage Pro USB keyboard. All of their functionalities work fine. No lag or weird mouse acceleration/deceleration. So I like the product. But for having a fairly significant bug with one of its fundamental features, I can only give it a 3 out of 5.

> 3 dayHey, this is essential for the new BYOD/Work From Home professional. Got my job computer (dinky little laptop) and my home computer (big display, quality keyboard, hefty mouse). Now I can do my job and have a decent screen and keyboard at the same time. Only problem is that my home computer may go to sleep when Im using the laptop and not wake up the display when I hit scroll lock x 2. Hence no 5th star. Im trying out a caffeine-style free program to keep the home computer from going to sleep. Cautiously optimistic.
