These are some of the best working items I have purchased - period. Not just for traction on snow and ice, but best designed items I have purchased. I have given away the items rigth off my feet to friends and family. They work great.

Ive used these only occasionally, approximately five times in two years, and have dried them and maintained them carefully, yet theyve started falling apart where the chain links connect to the spikes. Ive contacted the manufacturer as they are still under warranty, but in working with their customer service via email have found that Im better served fixing the flawed product on my own. I would look elsewhere next time I look for sub-crampon traction.

After much research, I decided to purchase the Kahtoola MICROspikes. I went on my first hike with them, yesterday - loved them!!! We went on a hilly, six-mile hike through ice, snow and mud, and I didnt slip once. Towards the end of our hike, I started testing them out a bit on downhill icy spots. I couldnt slide if Id wanted to! I did heed one reviewers advice and tried to stay on the soles of my feet in the iciest areas, as there are only 2 spikes in the heel portion. What I love about these: 1) They really work! 2) they are lightweight and small enough to fit in a larger pocket. 3) They are built well; I expect them to last. 4) The huge surprise was that they fit over both my running shoes AND my very large Baffin snow boots. Thank you, Kahtoola, for a most wonderful design!!!

I love this product, it is a perfect solution for walking around the block in the early spring. I walk all year round with my books in my MP3 player so this solution was very important for me. I wear size 8-8.5-9 in shoos and I ordered small size for this product and that was the right size (I am glad that I did not go any higher).

Absolutely worth every penny!! Put them on, and forget about slipping, PERIOD! These are far and away my favorite recent purchase, and I would buy them again without hesitation! A deal at twice the price!! Easy on and off, excellent build quality, superior design.....simply put, WINNING! These are a MUST for anyone hiking in snowy, or icy conditions! I live in Colorado, and the trail conditions here can be very treacherous during the winter months, and with the Micro Spikes, I walk with confidence over any condition. I am 270 lbs, and usually jog down the descents, the Micro Spikes work VERY well for that too! I have not noticed any ill affects from walking short sections of exposed trail where the snow has melted away either, so no need to remove them for these sections...buy with confidence!

I have a long, steep driveway in Central New York where we get over 110 inches of snow a year and when it melts and freezes on my driveway its like an inclined skating rink. The spikes on these Kahtoola contraptions are a life saver. Never slip a bit, even when my dog on a leash is tugging on me. They fit snugly on my boots and as an older person its reassuring to feel so secure while out walking on ice.

I hike almost daily on trails in upstate NY. I had been using Yaktracks which I’ve often thought of taking off and throwing in the woods in the middle of my walks. I tried the Katoolah micro spikes after a friend recommended them. For packed ice and snow, the Katoolah micro spikes are perfect. I’ve been walking up and down hills in the icy center of the trails and have not slipped once. I’ve often skipped my hikes when the trails were icy. No more. I am so pleased with these thus far.

This is the only brand I will use/purchase for use in Alaska while hiking iced trails. I just hope they keep up with quality control and don’t allow new models to become less reliable and breakable on remote hikes.

These are simply the best traction device on the market. They are light enough that you will hardly notice that they are on your feet, while being sturdy enough that you wont have to. I hiked up Mt. Leconte with these this weekend, and they performed marvelously. While one of my friends was practically sliding down the mountain, I felt sure-footed. I would recommend these to a friend.
