> 3 dayI’ve had old microspikes from Kahtoola that have lasted over 10 years. I decided to buy some new ones to go on winter hikes. Trust me the price is worth it. I purchase other knock off brand spikes and after one hike the chains broke. These ones last a long time and give you great traction

> 3 dayI hope it may be helpful to share my recent customer experience with Kahtoola. I have been wearing my Kahtoola Microspikes for a few winters now. I dont know much about customer demographics but my service dog gets his 90 minute walk every day in a nearby large park and for a few months at a time the trails have been a sheet of ice. So my ice spikes have their own hour meter. I am a big guy, 10+ hours a week, my spikes get a lot more use than if I just used them on a vacation only once. I wore out two of the bars underneath that connect the chains to the spikes. When the first bar broke I did a home repair. When the second bar broke I called Kahtoola for a few replacement bars. For insurance reasons they were not comfortable with my home repairs, and for the same reasons did not want to send me replacement bars. They did however send me a free replacement set and repaired my first set for free, putting me one set ahead. That is an 11 on a scale from 1-10 for customer service. I was once reluctant to shell out this much money for a set of ice spikes but now that I own several pair I can say that the quality of the Kahtoola easily justifies the cost. January and February (2015) this year has been a bad year weather wise in PA. Having survived a few expensive falls in the past, before Kahtoola were part of my daily routine, I will only offer that the few dollars spent on quality Kahtoolas are a pittance compared to pain and expense of one minor fall. & Amy at Kahtoola Customer Service is the very best, Thanks Amy!

> 3 dayAfter trying YakTrax and other ice walkers, I was told to get Kahtoolas by another hiking friend. They are just the best. I went from being afraid to hike in certain conditions for fear of falling on ice to being less afraid of an icy trail than a wet one in the spring. I feel totally secure on ice. I had to order a new pair because the spikes get dull after two years or so... I know some hikers who sharpen them but I dont want to, nor do I know how. They are not cheap but neither is the aftermath of falling on ice! I will totally buy another pair when these wear out!

> 3 dayLast year a good friend urged me to try his pair as we hiked an icy trail. I was sold within ten steps. After the hike, I went home and ordered these.I carry them with me, November to April. I took a solo hike today (Sunday) on the same trail. It was a beautiful day, after a lot of cold, so many hikers were out. The trail was again very icy. Seemed like eight out of nine of the sunday hikers coming my way said, Wow, I wish I had some of those. Had absolutely no problems where most everyone else was slipping and sliding. I love these babies. They really work. Are easy to put on and take off. Cant say enough. If youre tempted, yield to the temptation. Youll be glad.

> 3 dayThese microspikes are very nice for hiking on easy winter icy trails. In fact, they hold very well to ice giving you an impression that you can hike any terrain. The problem is that elastic rubber chain holder is very flexible and can easily slip, especially on aggressive trail. We went hiking to a moderate 20-30 degree icy trail. When I slipped and fell, I found front microspikes on the side of my shoe, because elastic rubber slipped. It cost me broken knee cap. I wish there were some sort of warning on product description page with limitation of use. However, they are currently advertized as Any terrain, any age, any condition. I recommend only regular hard crampons for serious icy winter hikes. If you slip with these microspikes, the price could be very high.

> 3 dayI’ve had cheaper spikes in the past and they’ve always let me down. These are the best. Worth the price.

> 3 dayA little costly but i have been using it for 2 years now and it still hasnt shown any significant sign of wear and tear. Just make sure u have the right size for your shoe and the spikes do the rest.

> 3 dayI agree with others whove posted on these spikes. Buy one size larger than you think, or read the descriptions carefully. What fits my hiking boots would definitely be too big for my tennis shoes. Well made/sturdy.

> 3 dayThese microspikes are amazing! As long as you wash them and dry properly after every use, I think these will last me quite awhile.
